As a Ramen fan, after multiple visits where everything has been extremely consistent, I really wanted to love this place but... The service and atmosphere are great and I enjoyed the drink selection but their tonkotsu broth is crazy salty, and then with the minced pork is salty and oily again, and it just comes out as a salty, greasy mess. It's saying a lot when I lose the desire to finish the meat in my ramen. My individual opinion is that the chef needs to find a proper sensei, it's like a western steakhouse chef up and decided to open a ramen restaurant. Everything else about the place was five stars.

I normally enjoy heavily salted food, but the ramen was extremely over salted. The salt overpowered every other flavor. With the addition of water it was somewhat edible but diluted any existing flavors.

Broth was lukewarm, edamame was undercooked.

This place offers a small menu with delicious ramen. We tried the tonkatsu ramen which is filled with meat and a medium poached egg. There's some black garlic oil to amp up the flavor. I still prefer soft/medium boiled egg for ramen as it's easier to eat. The overall flavor was good. Don't forget the crispy potstickers. The atmosphere is cozy and hip with living plants on the walls and Japanese fabric framed like art. A full bar is centered in the restaurant but we didn't have any drinks.

We stopped into Boxer late on a Saturday night. We were seated immediately and pretty excited to try the place. Our server was prompt and the food was served quickly. We ordered the Ahi Poke Bowl and the Spicy Red Miso. Both meals were flavorful. The miso had something about it that was a bit overpowering, the noodles were excellent, but overall a bit disappointing.Something to note when dining there, the only visible, available utensils were chopsticks.Overall, we might stop in again in the future. We were actually disappointed we hadn't tried the Chicken Karaage, over the Miso.

Truly the worst ramen I have ever had in my life, bar none. The noodles were bizarre and undercooked, there was a literal raw egg floating in it. I had ordered an egg in my ramen, but because the soup was lukewarm (ew) it wasn’t hot enough to cook the egg, so it was just floating in there. ?The space is cute, and the servers were nice. I’m so sad, bc this place is very convenient.

I've been a couple times with my family and it's been generally pretty good, with some dishes standing out much more than the others. Ramen has been good and filling. I was really hoping the okonomiyaki tots would have incorporated some cabbage in them, so it was a little disappointing that the only similarity to okonomiyaki was the topping. Just a missed opportunity, I suppose, to do a cabbage and potato (and green onion) tot. Service has always been top notch.

my food was raw and it was cold in the restaurant. I was disappointed with the pricing for the quality of food that was served.

One of the first restaurants I went to in Portland, and an enduring favorite I don’t visit as much as I’d like.

The bigger pork cubes are definitely a plus however the poached egg either needs to be poached for longer or just swap it for a soft boiled egg because at times the egg comes out just raw making some parts taste

Came in looking for some good ramen on a cold day, saw this spot had solid ratings and looked good so figured I would indulge on a windy portland evening. While the layout is nice, the lighting is a bit dark and it was so dead inside I did get the vibe I was eating at a library, less so a ramen joint (tho this is no fault of the restaurant..just a quiet Tuesday evening). I ordered a ramen bowl and got my order quite quick (tho again it was dead so itd be weird if it took a while tbh). The bowl looked great visually, with plenty of green onion, pork belly slices, and well seasoned broth. However, upon closer inspection of the hard boiled egg, I found that it broke apart and turned to gooey yolk the mili-second my chopstick even so slightly caressed the white. Maybe some like a barely poached egg in their ramen...but nah not me fam, I'm on the 6-8 second boiling side, not the quick dip and toss into a ramen bowl as what was essentially a raw egg /:Regardless, I ate the bowl, the noodles were solid and the pork was very rich. But what followed was less than ideal...stomach pains a plenty along with what most often accompanies that (ya know)...While everyone has different reactions to food, I rarely react this strongly and have a pretty tough stomach overall...but today was an exception. My main point is that while visually it looked good and flavor was decent...the egg was raw and the end result made its way back to the toilet in a rather unconventional way. Here's hoping I just got a bad batch but id look elsewhere for ramen bowls for the time being. As Dayum drops says, Boxers was indeed NOT 'pickle popping on a handstand'...
