Good food, hard to give service more than 2 stars since you order at the counter, get your own food, clean your own table. No problem doing any of that but can't give more than 2 stars.

Bread and Ink in name only. NOT the OG B&I of days gone by. They got my order wrong, didn't apologize, took forever to get correct food (greasy brisket and cold mac and cheese with powdery looking cheddar on top). Wanted tip even though it's counter service and you have to bus your own table. Dirty tables. $60 for crappy lunch for 2. Yay.

Used to Be My Favorite Restaurant in Portland.
Now I’ll Never Go Back.
This was once my favorite place to eat in Portland. Back in 2019, I would have said they had the best Eggs Benedict in town. It was my go-to spot for out-of-town guests and special brunches. Sadly, those days are long gone.
Fast forward to 2025—what a letdown. I had the worst service I’ve ever experienced here, and shockingly, the Eggs Benedict (which used to be their standout) was the worst I’ve had anywhere. It honestly pains me to write this because I used to recommend this place to everyone.
There’s just no consistency anymore. The quality has dropped, the service is inattentive, and the food simply isn’t worth the high prices. As much as it hurts to say: just avoid this place.

Food and service was great. Half the kitchen and menu were not operating so limited the experience but from what we did get it was very good.

Street parking only
Order at counter
Get a buzzer for when food is ready
Refill water and coffee yourself
Once done, take everything to station
Plenty of seating inside with a few outside
Friendly staff
Food ready pretty quick
Second visit and looking forward to checking out the rest of their menu!

I don't normally write reviews but this was by far the most disappointing meal I've had since moving to Portland. I don't know if it's because the food in Portland is so good and this is just so mediocre that it ended up being a really big disappointment, or if the food at this establishment really, is that horrible. I ordered poached eggs that came in water and then burst and it just was hot. Egg water everywhere. The toast is Wonder bread style and super bland. The sausages in my breakfast were sliced before being put on a griddle so all of the juice was completely gone and they were super tough and inedible. Overall a hugely disappointing experience that I was pretty bummed that I had to pay for.

It was very underwhelming overall. I got delivery, the food was hot, I was excited, took a bite out of the fried chicken and could not taste much. It was bland… the fried chicken was bland…. Didn’t get ketchup with the potato’s but luckily had some on hand, and they needed it. The bread was not what I ordered. I really don’t think I’m even going to finish it all. Ughh, I could have made something better at home for less money, but I just wanted to treat myself.

Cozy little cafe on the corner of Hawthorne with great food! My personal favorite cafe on Hawthorne mainly because of waffle window, grab a bite here sometime!

Cute interior and name, but my enjoyment stopped there. With the pager system there's a ton of noise pollution. You hear other guests pagers going off loudly all throughout your meal.
The biscuits and gravy with 2 eggs was disappointing, especially given the price. My two biscuits were already submerged in a lake of gravy. I soaked up as much as I could but you can see how much gravy was left over. The taste was honestly kind of bland.
The over easy eggs were also undercooked and I was left with a puddle of yolk and uncooked egg whites that I was not about to eat like a soup.

Restaurantji Recommends
We came here because the wait at Little Griddle was too long. The staff was nice, but this is an “order at the counter, pick up at the counter, and bus yourself” restaurant. That’s fine, but not for $44 for two breakfasts and two coffees before tip.
The food was okay. The brisket hash is a stew, not really a hash. It was good just keep it on the dinner menu. The Three B’s from the waffle window was just fine as well. Presentation was underwhelming. Brie and bacon haphazardly thrown on a waffle with a pinch of basil, we could have made this at home. We don’t have before photos (we forgot).
The atmosphere is a large dining hall. Good morning campers.
We won’t be back, but I wish them luck in the next recession.

A wonderful variety of breakfast fare. Very busy, which is an indication of how good they are.

Took forever to get my order., I guess my order never reached to the kitchen. The guy who helped me with my order, was sweet and helpful went to check it out then i got my food fast. Other than that loved the omelette.

Got a BBQ mac and cheese. The cheese had a light sauce with semi-melted shredded cheese on top. It was really more like butter noodles with meat. The meat was pretty dry and lacked sauce. I paid $2 for a club soda from the tap, and it arrived 2/3 full.
I’m so sad to have to rate this low. The staff were really friendly, but that was the only upside.

Ordered food for delivery from here for the first time.
I thought the biscuits and gravy were great. I’d rather thicker gravy than water and they did just that. Mocha coffee was pretty delicious too.
I’d just say maybe put down parchment or wax paper down in the disposable boxes so the eggs don’t stick to it if someone orders them over easy/medium.
