so good. thank you 🥲
I ordered the Ota Tofu Bao without Szechuan mayonnaise, but it still had sweet soy sauce. However, I couldn't even taste it, so the bun was bland. Conversely, the Yakisoba was flavorful, but had too much onion. Updated from previous review on 2025-06-07
YES! Just yes.
Soooooo good, will be returning!
Got our first order from Breaking Buns and it definitely won't be our last! The bao were perfectly steamed & fluffy, even after traveling in a car. We had the Szechuan Chicken and Szechuan Cow, which I was worried would be too similar in flavor, but they absolutely weren't, but both were excellent. My husband and I will definitely going back to try them all.
Great little food cart on the roadside with plenty of space to park.
I ordered the Sweet & Spicy Orange Chicken Bao. Two bao was the perfect amount of food for a late lunch and the Napa cabbage slaw had the perfect amount of dressing and I enjoyed every bit. I will keep this cart in mind for the next time I’m in the area.
Insanely good/homey fried rice, and open fairly late. Truly all a college student can ask for.
open late! great food, with many gluten free options and chef is willing to explain it all. very accommodating. will return!
Really delicious bao buns. We also got the veto fried rice with fried Ota tofu. It’s rare to get a vegan fried rice and it was so good! I thought the prices were really reasonable too. One fried rice and 2 bao buns were more than enough to feed both of us. Open till 11pm! Right across from Reed College.
amazing yummy food super nice people love phil😋🙏💕

It just didn't hit the spot. The shrimp was bland for the most part. The pork belly looked more like pulled pork. If it's pork belly, it needs to be crunchy.

Split the Yakisoba and 2 boa with my partner and it was the perfect amount. Boa are generously filled and delicious!
Definitely a new favorite spot for me.

One of Portland's hidden gems, in my opinion.
I've long been a fan of their bao - each one is soft and succulent and they prepare the fillings amazingly. The spicy shrimp and pork belly are my favorites, but each and every one is standout.
Last night, though, I tried their yakisoba and oh my goodness, what a delight. I thought I wasn't going to be able to eat it all after enjoying some bao, but I couldn't stop chowing down. Just amazing food across the board.

I was not expecting much from a food cart on the side of a not so busy road. To my surprise, the food was delicious! Quick and nice service. Even at nights, the atmosphere is nice and calm to eat outdoors. One downside is that the fruit trees will drop fruit, and if not picked, it'll be smelly. It's not an issue, I guess, if you're getting takeout. I do recommend visiting this food cart. They have a nice variety of flavors, and the prices are accessible, especially for tasty food!
