The staff was friendly enough but you hardly engage with them. They sit you at a table and you order off a qr code like it's covid. The food was sub par. Soggy fries. They charged me an extra dollar for chipotle aioli and only gave me half a ramekin.

You have to order your food through the app and it’s just miserable. You have to pull out your card and add it to the app before even offing food or drinks. Servers are hard to track down if you have questions about something before or after ordering. The food quality is good but the service is absolutely horrid. I’ve been here three times and have regretted all 3.

I made a takeout order with Breakside on a Sunday evening but ran 3+ hours late to get it because my partner was giving birth at the hospital a few blocks away, so naturally they’d thrown it out. I showed up minutes before close, and even though the kitchen was shut down for the night, the staff remade our order, no questions asked. It was really kind of them, and the food was good as always.

Attended a networking meeting in the mezzanine and had a great experience and a wonderful cocktail. Before heading home my friend and I had dinner downstairs. We were seated promptly at our table and instructed to order via our phones, which had us pay for everything ahead of time, including tip, which seemed a little strange to tip before the service was provided.

I ordered the Cuban sandwich with waffle fries. The fries were fantastic and in general the Cuban was great but on half of my sandwich, there was a ton of horseradish. However the interesting thing was the other half of the sandwich did not have horseradish . My friend ordered the macaroni and cheese and halfway through our meal she stopped eating and mentioned that her noodles felt like they had a lot of horseradish on it. I noted that mine did too, which seems strange. Double checking the menu. We noticed that neither of our meals mentioned in the menu description anything about horseradish. With this being such a bowl flavor it seems like something that would be mentioned in a menu.

I would have wanted to get the attention of a server to say something about our meals, but no one checked in with us after our food was dropped off. It was a busy night and even when we tried to make eye contact with the server to ask for a box for our fries. No one caught our attention so we had to walk up to the bar.

I have always been pleasantly surprised with the food quality and environment at Breakside. I am a long term patron from when they first opened at their first sit in location. Food quality is tip top and despite me not being a beer drinker their cocktails are great. All around good value for money vis a vis the quality. Why no 5 stars? The pandemic is over - let’s get real menus going again and table side service rather than QR codes and virtual ordering. It’s time to get back to and reinstate human interactions. I’d be happy to pay a couple more bucks per item for human interaction. That being said they are quick and efficient in food and drink delivery. Also as a long time patron - I miss your jalapeño popper they were awesome and I hope to see them again some day.

QR Codes are so 2020. Like why now in the year of our Lord 2025 are you making me use my phone to puzzle through my order? And then putting 18-25% tip buttons? Tipping before I even get one bit of service?
The food is ok. They make great beer. But I’ll just order it somewhere where traditional waitstaff still exist.
