The Very Berry Bowl included açaí, granola, strawberries, blueberries, goji berries, almond butter, and cinnamon. The açaí was too watery. The berries were ripe, but I would have preferred the bowl to be a little sweeter. The almond butter was tasty, but difficult to mix in.
Disclaimer: this is not a review of the physical bar. I’ve never been there. This is in regard to their online sales. The product is great! But the shipping fulfillment is so unreliable.. on multiple occasions it has taken over a week for my order to finally make it to my door (which is excluding one time where it was a delay due to USPS). If you find that you’re not getting any tracking information in a relatively prompt manner, YOU will have to reach out to make sure they even have the product. Current order is set to make it here on the tenth day, even after having been switched to a faster shipping speed due to having to correct a backstock issue. I love the brand but this issue has been consistent enough to bring attention to

Friendly staff, the nambawan strain in particular is absolutely exceptional, but all strains I’ve had here have been good quality. Nice chill atmosphere in beautiful and fun SE Portland. Highly recommend for kava lovers and the kava curious. 😊

Kava is excellent and rest of menu complimentary, if you can get the baristas to acknowledge your presence. Ive been there ten times or so and walked out at least 3 after standing there for 5 plus minutes while the employee either wiped down already clean counters, had a conversation with someone who wasn’t ordering, or just ignored me completely. This last time it was less than 2 minutes but i didn’t stick around to find out because she was cuss venting about something or other and I didn’t want to hear about it. I get the “island time” thing so even though this isnt the west side of kauai i thought ok whatever but not being acknowledged while having to listen to the barista air out her dirty laundry is probably my last attempt at getting a shell there.

I wish I could live this place. I love kava, nice space, and a decent but way too much drama. I started going when they opened up after covid which was a wonderful way to reconnect. Unfortunately they hired some imature youngsters combined with some toxic gossip saw the departure of some great people. There are two other way cooler Bula spots in town that host some groovy events.
Amazing experience! Great Kava!

A note about safety : commercial Kava products are often made with stem peelings with contain Pipermethystine . It has been reported that heavy native drinkers of traditional Kava preparations in Oceania tend to have elevated liver enzymes. I know a lot of us rely on Kava for life outside of addiction, just be careful if you have liver damage. Theres a lot of beautiful plants out there that aren't as fetishized and commercialized that offer beautiful effects on anxiety and euphoria. When i visited this bar i enjoyed the drink they made me, however the attendant was not very knowledgeable.

If I could give no stars I would. Worst açaí bowl ever had. I didn’t realize I paid for a water bowl.

Neither a bar nor a coffee house. Bula Kava House is like a tea house, only specific to Kava Kava. Bula is a must-visit place. While you are there, pass the house mini guitar around and refine your chops!

Super chill and cozy little place. Kava selection and knowledgeable staff. Saw folks chilling with friends, some couples and some folks coming in and finishing up the day on their laptops. Friendly and welcoming. Bula
