Really this is the kind of experience, especially on a beautiful spring evening, that continues to define Portland dining's ineffable qualities of fresh seasonal flavor, friendly service, and relaxed atmosphere -- remarkable especially for being located on busy MLK Blvd. All that plus a community ethos that is exceptional. Can't wait to go back.

Parking: Only a very small lot; plenty of street parking within a few blocks west of MLK.

The food here is really good. Foh staff has consistently not done much in terms of service. I typically don't judge in that area, because I also work in the industry but it's....not good here. Enough to bring down my rating.
The cooks seem to enjoy what they do though. Pastries here are consistently delicious! The orange espresso pull apart is worth trying.

Busy Sunday morning. We waited about 15 minutes, not bad! Once seated they were very attentive, answered food allergy questions, and made suggestions. We ended up ordering the breakfast sandwich, brunch greens, and the 'every day toast' (You must. Pile on the butter, then the compote, and dig in. The bread is quite good).
