Cartopia is a fantastic original food pod in Portland with a great night time ambiance and a variety of great food options!

Though it has less options than the Hawthorne Asylum nearby, I would say this was my favorite food cart pod. The seating is all very nice and well cared for, and the food is impressive with a variety of high-quality options that also just have the cutest theming.

We did a food tour here and enjoyed a Thai spiced ice tea and poutine here. Mamma Mia. Delicious.

There were about a half dozen food carts, looked semi-permanent, in the corner lot. Where we walked in, it stank terribly, as that was where the trash dumpsters were. But when you got inside, the smell was of the food, not the trash. Lots of tables, some picnic style, some smaller, with awnings and umbrellas over them. You were required to clean the tables with provided paper towels and spray both before you ate and after.

I chose Potato Champion, and tried something new. They sold french fries with different toppings. Interesting! I had the peanutbutter and jam. It was a Satay sauce with chipotle raspberry jam and cheese curds. I guess the cheese curds were supposed to go on top. I probably should have done that. I think it cuts the strength of the chipotle. The guy said it wasn't that hot, but I don't do a lot of spice, so it was. I would have eaten more, but it was boiling hot outside, and the food was very steaming hot and spicy on top, so it wasn't too conducive to eating a lot. But it was pretty good. If I had a place to take the food home, I would have, and eaten more another time.

The canned soda I bought was not very cold, so that didn't help, either.

All in all, it was a fun and unique experience.

This outdoor dining place is very amazing, suits every vibe like family, friends and dates. The pizza here are one of best, Its smoky brick oven taste is one of the best you’ll have. I had veggie balacia, nano Sicilian and also chicken pad thai. Everything was really delicious.

This place is way past its prime. 10 Years ago it was a goto spot. I dropped in because I was working in the neighborhood. Vegetation around all the tables has little bugs crawling everywhere.

The burger I had gave me some intestinal distress. I normally have an iron stomach, apparently they found my kryptonite.

There are also way fewer vendors here than there was pre-covid. The cart pod a couple of blocks down the road may be a better option? I haven't tried it yet.

Absolutely love this place! Cartopia is one of those spots that just gets it right, well-curated, thoughtfully designed, and full of character. The overall vibe is welcoming and relaxed, and the selection of food vendors is both diverse and delicious. Each pod feels like it’s been chosen with intention, and together they create a really interesting mix of flavours and styles.

The space itself is super versatile. There are smaller picnic-style tables for solo diners or smaller parties, and larger fire pit tables that are perfect for communal seating or big groups. Whether you’re stopping by for a quick bite or spending an evening catching up with friends, it works. I love that there are both shaded spots for hotter days and sunny corners to soak it all in, it really has something for everyone.

What makes Cartopia stand out even more is that, despite its popularity, it’s never felt overcrowded when I’ve visited. It has that sweet spot of being lively but still comfortable, no stress, no overly long waits, just good atmosphere and even better food.

Highly recommend checking out Pyro Pizza, their pizzas are excellent, and the natural sodas are a nice bonus. Also, don’t miss Chicken and Guns, the portions are generous, and the flavours are incredible.

Whether you’re local or visiting Portland, Cartopia is a must. Great food, great layout, and a true taste of what makes Portland’s food cart scene so special.

Great food cart area with Mexican, Thai, Egyptian, pizza, ice cream, and lots of vegan options. Seating is plentiful at picnic tables and there’s a large white tent covering for good shade. Food came out pretty fast and everyone enjoyed their food. There are bathrooms but they are portables so heads up on that.

This is one of our favorite food cart hubs. They have a great variety without feeling overwhelmed by options. They also are across the street from Lardos, which is an amazing restaurant and also a must try. In fact, most times, we grab a little something from lardos to-go and take that over to Cartopia so we can have both. A big hit for us is the Potato Champion. It is not just any fry truck. They have a long list of AWESOME homemade sauces. And the fries are out of this world. There are a lot of seats available under shaded canopies to keep cool under in the summer months and dry in the spring and fall.

This pod has fewer carts than the Hawthorne Asylum Food Cart Pod, but the variety is great and it feels really well put together. There are lots of tables and fire pits, so it always feels spacious and easy to find a seat. When I visited in the winter, the big central seating area was covered with a tent and had heaters — super warm and cozy. The restrooms are key-code access, and each table has spray bottles and paper napkins, which keeps the place feeling clean and well cared for.😊✨

First we checked out the food cart plaza just west and the whole place was full of weeds and smelled, and not in a yummy food way. Yuck.

Came to Cartopia just a few steps away for the jasmine and butterfly bushes and bright benches and had an awesome meal! A burger and beers (with friendly samples first) at one cart. And I got the 1/4 chicken with Guns (crispy potatoes) and salad next door. Spiced chicken plus the bright cilantro Peruvian Pio sauce. It was a perfect casual cool meal to wrap up our weekend in Portland.
