What a great experience! Went here for a birthday and it was such a lovely time. They even went out of their way to decorate and overall make it a special birthday for my friend. We sat outside next to a lovely fire. Great staff, food, and environment. Will definitely be back :).

Wow. The outdoor seating is beyond charming. Lots of twinkle lights and beautiful plants. The food? Beyond incredible. We had the salmon (Must. Order. This.) and papaya salad with shrimp. So good!! Impressive wine list. We chose two red wines by the glass and they did not disappoint. I can't wait to go back! Great options if you are gluten free and/or dairy free.

I started with a perfectly made French 75 ? followed by egg rolls and salad wraps. Then we split a pork shoulder with polenta and a marscapone filled, bacon wrapped date. Yum! They have a perfect patio and a great, attentive staff! I can't wait to come back and try more of the menu!

One of my favorites in town. A wonderful patio and amazing good food and great staff. Pat has a wonderful place.

I called ahead to make a reservation for my husband's birthday dinner, and mentioned it was his birthday. They put a cute little ribbon bouquet on the table and some fun confetti to make it festive. They also did a candle in the dessert and wrote happy birthday on the dessert plate. So that was all a nice touch. More to the point, though, the food was FANTASTIC. We had the Chameleon wraps, the duck ravioli, and the pork. And everything was absolutely perfectly flavored, perfectly cooked, perfectly portioned... like, I tend to only review restaurants I like, but if I could give this one an extra star, I would. The only thing that I would caution about, and this is not a negative, but the service was very leisurely. It wasn't a bad thing at all. We had drinks refilled in a timely manner and everything. Just don't come in expecting to have a quick dinner before a movie or a show. Plan to spend a few hours here, and enjoy yourself. It's well worth it!

10/10 the owners a** tastes like lavender. I know this because he told me, it's an ancient Chinese secret. Anyways, the food is amazing and the staff is cool too! Definitely a hidden jem and criminally underrated.

Clearly the place appeared short staffed and the servers overworked, taking more than an hour to bring the food, despite the restaurant not being full. Rice fettuccine with salmon was not awful, although the chef went a tad overboard with cheese. I was able to peek in the kitchen and the place did not seem clean. Hoping they can get a visit from the health department.

Absolutely AMAZING! We had a large party looking for a place with good food and better drinks last minute and this place did not disappoint. The staff was hilarious as the waiter took in our rambunctious group and played right along with us. The owner came out to check on things and the food and outdoor vibe was incredible. Cannot recommend enough!

Spectacular!!!! Awesome vibe, fun, roomy, comfortable outdoor area with lights and lanterns- even fire pits when it is cold. all seasons dining and easy to socially distance. The food is second to none. This has been my #1 favorite place to eat in Portland for over 20 years!!!! This trip it didn't disappoint- the salad, entree and dessert were all 5 stars for taste and presentation! I took two friends who had never experienced The Chameleon and now they are fans. Do not miss this gem - it is worth it! Reservations are recommended- Absolutely on point and delicious.

Service is just terrible. We were a group of 6 plus a baby with reservations. They say us at some tent outside (which was a cute vibe however not very practical to eat at). The table was extremely low so I had to crouch over to eat. The high chair was so high and the table so abnormally low that my baby couldn’t even eat in the high chair so I had to hold her in my lap…not what I expect at a high end restaurant with pricey food. No change table in their dingy bathroom so had to change baby out front in the parking lot in the trunk of my car with everyone waiting in line watching. Again, not what I expect at an expensive restaurant. Then it took 1.5 HOURS to receive our food. When we arrived the place was empty. We then watched multiple groups who arrived after us receive their food before us. In the 1.5 hours we waited for our food, the server came over once to ask if we want more drinks. We said no but we want our food. He didn’t say anything and walked off. I then had enough as our child was getting fussy and crying and it was getting late, I flagged down some other server to ask where our food is. He didn’t even bother to stop and come talk to me, but instead kept walking as I was talking and said “sorry I’m not sure”. Magically, a few minutes later our food shows up. They said they’re busy and kitchen is backed up which I know is a BS lie because when we arrived there was barely any other customers. Then he comes and brings out bill and has the audacity to say he’s added an automatic 20% gratuity!! For what exactly!? Food 1.5 hours late, uncomfortable eating conditions, had to hold child in my lap as I was trying to eat my $40 meal, no apology or anything for food being so late….and you ADD 20%!? Do not go here. Just don’t waste your time or money.

This is a good restaurant but it does not have wifi. They said it interferes with their music.

Great food, outdoor patio is cute, and a very much Celiac friendly menu - would have been 5/5 if service was faster. Once we got our first item, things were fine - took 20 minutes to have our order taken from the time we sat down, and another 15 minutes before the drinks came.

Amazing food and service! A friend recommended this spot for a birthday dinner and everyone in our party was blown away. The egg rolls and shrimp skewers were great appetizers. The panko-crusted salmon was a favorite entree! The ambiance was enjoyable as well. We will definitely be back!
