Really nice, low-key spot for German-style ales and lagers in Portland. Been plenty of times and every beer hits the spot, though IPAs are far-and-few-between for those who only drink those styles. Servers are very friendly and helpful if you need a style recommendation!
For vibe, they have a back room with a TV if you'd like a low-key spot to catch a game or two, and two dart boards with really nice lighting!
For bargain hunters, specials on liter pours every Friday, follow their Instagram if you like German beers as they run events fairly often! If you ask me, a great place to kick off a night of fun, or wind down if you went out early!
5 stars for the beer, 2 stars for the location and atmosphere.
Good (not amazing) beer selection, roughly a dozen taps. Beer quality is excellent. Talked to the bartender and found out the brewer has decades of experience, has started other breweries, and is a consultant.
Something I really liked is they are not IPA heavy! I am not a hop head whatsoever, and I for one am so tired of every brewery having mostly IPA. This brewery specializes in European beers. At the time of my visit, Oktoberfest, pilsner, summer pale, helles lager, vienna lager, kolsch, and others.
I sampled almost everything. Beers are solid, clean, flavorful, and fit the respective style perfectly.
Bartender was very talkative, gave plenty of samples, told me all about the brewery and owner. He treated every customer with the same respect. "Hey brother, how's is going? What can I get you?"
I didn't care for the location and atmosphere. It's just blocks from Crux, not really a good location, difficult to get into. Atmosphere leaves much to be desired. The bar is tiny, only 3 chairs, but plenty of other seating. No big open spaces. I have no idea what this place used to be, but it's not a good place for a bar. Everything is just so plain.
I went for the beer and really enjoyed that. Go for the beer, not the location.
Great Kolsch
Great little brewpub that's easy to miss in this industrial area of close-in SE. Focus on German style beers which is something that Portland sorely lacks. Didn't try the food cart, but it looked really good.
By far some of the best beer in Portland especially if you’re open to something other than an IPA. Low key vibe reminiscent of breweries in the early 10s.
Showed up late in the evening again, barely making last call. It was empty but had a good conversation with the only other customer and staff. Only had the Japanese lager in keeping with my final last days in Portland, no more hopps for awhile. They also had an MKIII in the corner I didn't get a chance to feed. Worth a trip if in the area
Masters of German beer styles
Nice little place, but parking can be a challenge. The street parking is limited and competitive. The place is larger inside than it appears from without. The beer is mostly German style, including the Ipa.There is outdoor seating for nice days. Inside, there is a foosball table and a couple of dartboards. I expect there would be a busier atmosphere if the parking situation was better.
My favorite brewery hands down. The beer these folks brew is superb.
Coming in at number five is the cleanest entry on our list. Chuckanut Brewery P. Nut Beer Hall (aka the P. Nut) serves up some of the cleanest beers we had on our trip. The beer hall is a perfect spot to hang with friends while enjoying one or ten of the Chuckanut beers on draft. They also have a cider or two on tap and some wines behind the bar for those who don’t drink beer.
Our two picks from Chuckanut would be their Pilsner and the Rauch Helles. Their classic Pilsner is sweet, clean and bubbly. The Rauch Helles was a delicious collab with Red Hook Brewers. The smoky notes from the rauch malt were more than subtle but not overpowering; a perfect blend for fans of the rauch style. Yes – technically it’s not their brew house but we consider outpost taprooms an extension of a

What's to say, Portland has high expectations for beer and these folks deliver. Primary German style with some variations

Great beer, they even serve 1L sizes! There's a 1L challenge too, ask the bartender.Low key, darts ,just snack foods, and bartenders are amazing
Great beer selection. A ton of games to play while drinking those beers!
