All around great experience. Certainly worth considering. Great happy hour too.

Service was excellent — attentive, friendly, and professional throughout the night. The staff really made the experience feel welcoming and polished.

The space is beautiful, but it’s very dark. It was hard to see the menu and fully enjoy the presentation of the dishes. Unfortunately, the food didn’t quite meet expectations compared to the service and atmosphere.

Overall, great service, but I hope the lighting and food execution improve.

We truly wanted to love this experience; however, unfortunately, it did not meet our expectations.
We had reservations on a non-holiday evening. Upon arrival, the layout felt somewhat awkward, as guests must walk past dining patrons to reach the check-in area. We were seated promptly, but the tables were positioned very close together. A coat rack holding several wet coats was placed directly beside my chair, brushing against me throughout the meal. Unfortunately, there was no room to adjust the table or seating to make the situation more comfortable.
On a positive note, the Brussels sprout appetizer was outstanding, and both salads were excellent. We each ordered the beef tenderloin, medium rare. While mine was prepared correctly, my husband’s arrived well done. The whipped potatoes accompanying the entrée were delicious.
For dessert, we ordered coffee and the Fire Baked Apple & Pear Crumble. The coffee was served lukewarm rather than hot. The crumble itself was undercooked, with large wedges of pear and apple that were difficult to cut even with a spoon. The topping lacked the texture and structure one would expect from a crumble and seemed hastily assembled.
Additionally, service from the kitchen was slow throughout the evening. Our dinner lasted over three hours, which felt excessive for a standard meal service.
Overall, we left disappointed, as we had hoped for a much stronger experience.

I'm torn when writing this review. We had reservations for Valentine's at 6pm.

The decor was beautiful with rose petals on the ground, on tables ect.

There was no host and with several parties crammed into the entry way, one patron. asked one of the staff who said some one would be there shortly. It was not as organized as one would have hoped.

We were a party of 4. They bypassed us in line to seat couples.
not a big deal but there was no explanation. When we sat down our server did say that they had 3 service times do to the Valentine's day and that dinner was trimmed at 2 hours. She took our drink order almost 15-20 min. in.

The fist couse, a small bite of whipped goat cheve with quince paste and caviar. The pastry was not crispy and the cheese overpowered the rest of the flavors. The appetizer we choose was scallops, one was perfect seared with the second being under cooked. Same for my partners. The parsnips purree was a nice addition to the dish.
The Caesar salad was good.
The lemon sorbet, excellent.
For the main course we had Salmon. It was cooked perfect and the carrot puree was well paired. Unfortunately the accompanying broccoli was undercooked and cold.

The red velvet cake looked lovely but the ice cream was melted. Our co-dinners looked muck better. The frosting was a bit grainy and the cheese cake layer I felt had an odd texture. My partner however thought it was fine. The cake itself was moist.

Overall, it was an good experience shared with friends but I expected better. I'm sure they do a much better job when not serving dishes event style,(similar to an awards ceremony dinner or big wedding were consistently is often lacking).

I may try them again, but would not join them for another event style meal. Dinner was $125 per person not including drinks. That's not horrible for a good meal if executed well.

Again, torn with writing this since I'm sure it was due to the timing.

I posted a review six years ago. They just responded.

Found a bone in my mouth from the salmon.

They ask for a service charge and not gratuity. They expect 30-50 more on top of whatever bill you may have, because they claim they don’t want to raise prices.

Was only here for PDX Wiener Week, but the server was attentive and just a joy to be around. Been here only one other time for dinner, but the food and service was immaculate then. 1st stop of the day for wieners and it was the best of the 3 that night. Really gave off as close to a Reuben as you could get, considering the wiener was a Bratwurst.

Dinner for two on a Friday evening. Excellent wine (recommended by our hostess), very good service (attentive and friendly), delicious, interesting foods (like venison!). A great atmosphere for private conversation in the midst of the happy chatter and bubbly conversations of our fellow guests. I really enjoy Clarklewis each time I visit. And so do my friends whom I bring for dinner. Satisfied, repeat patron.

I booked a party of 5 for a business celebration. All I can say is this was, and remains, an iconic Portland staple. It was a pioneer in the Portland food scene, and I can say without a doubt it still holds its own. One of us got the venison and said it was the best they had ever had. Ever. Three of us got the salmon and one said it was the best salmon he had ever had. I can honestly say it was an incredible, well balanced and delicious plate of salmon. I will be back and so glad the restaurant presented so well for an important business dinner.

Food is always fantastic, really great cocktails, and friendly service. Pasta is fresh and delicious, love their pork ragu. They also do an amazing steak, salmon, and venison when it’s available! Keep coming back for more!

We stopped by for a wiener week, and I’ve got to say I’m super disappointed in the service on our first visit and won’t be returning. The dark-haired bartender working Thursday 1/29 around 8 pm gave us an unwelcoming, annoyed vibe. At first I figured that was just his stoic face and brushed it off, but then an older white customer came in and he immediately flashed a big smile and gave a very warm greeting. That really caught me off guard because we absolutely did not get that same welcoming energy.

The host who seated us also seemed annoyed when we asked to sit at the bar and barely acknowledged us when we left. This could’ve been a great place to bring friends for drinks, but after this experience, we won’t be back.

The only reason I’m giving two stars is because the wiener was okay, and the server who brought it out was friendly.

Overall, it felt like we were judged based on how we looked, which makes no sense if you’re promoting Wiener Week and bringing in a different crowd.

We came here during wiener week to try the Rueben hot dog. The staff were not welcoming in the least bit once it was clear to them we were only there for the dog. We sat at the bar and the bartender was very unattentive towards us and didn't even properly greet us. He had a very uninterested and annoyed face when taking our order but when dealing with other customers at the bar he was smiling and very friendly towards them. When we left, the host didn't even acknowledge us. It makes no sense to participate in wiener week if you're going to treat the people coming to try your hot dog like a nuisance. All of them other establishments we've visited for wiener week have all been welcoming and don't seem to mind we're only there for the wiener and a drink. The hot dog itself wasn't even that good, it tasted like an overpriced Costco hot dog. Based on this experience I have no desire to come try their regular menu.

Update : they took 7 years to respond to my rating with a canned response ! I've downgraded from 3 to 2 stars because of this.

My partner and I always share courses so we can enjoy more courses. Last week we have a Javanese themed salmon with sticky rice. It the best entre that we have ever enjoyed. Otherwise we ordered the beet salad and crab pasta. And to finish the Basque cheesecake was to die for!
