Food is delicious- seasoning/spices are delightful, homey and warm without overpowering or being too spicey (for those who can not tolerate full Indian spice, they are super accommodating!) staff were helpful and kind. 2 tables inside. Take out ideal. 10/10 recommend!

don’t read too much into the three stars for atmosphere. Like a lot of places it seems to be set up for Uber eats etc. fantastic food & great service.

Chicken vindaloo and garlic naan was top notch! We visited on a weekday evening, sat at the tables outside. Service was prompt and super friendly, the food was delicious and authentic. We'll definitely be back to this neighborhood gem again!
Update: This has become our favorite Indian spot. I’m digging the butter chicken and chana masala rn.

Dawaat a Ishq has the most excellent Indian food to be found in the city outside of Beaverton. The food is superb and deliciously spicy, every dish we have tried so far is delightful.
Also my husband and I love the atmosphere....a perfectly down home chill vibe, which somehow reminds me of the NYC taxi stands where I used to get late night Indian food back in the day. (how cool would it be if this spot was actually open late though?)
I can't wait to go back and try more from this delicious menu....

This is the tastiest Indian food in the neighborhood if not in the greater Portland area. Great service, amazing food, and cute spot to eat.

Lowkey, relaxed spot with delicious correct dishes. Guri was an attentive, friendly host. The masala chai was perfect temperature and sweetness. Best lamb samosas I’ve had to date- perfectly crispy, delightfully seasoned. Dal makhani and methi matar mushroom were also scrumptious. We ordered level medium and it was sufficiently spicy for us- and we eat quite a bit of indo/pakistani food! 10/10 would order again; we’ll be back next time we’re in town. A yummy gem in NE Portland.

I am so glad to put a review for this restaurant because they are such an amazing, I visited with family to have lunch and i tried chicken tikka masala and garlic naan which was very delicious. I don’t think that I had ever eaten because the taste was superb. Moreover, employees are also so kind and friendly and they maintained each and every thing perfectly, I will definitely recommend to visit if you wanna try such a delicious Indian food.

Hands down the best Indian food in town. I was worried that the food might not be so good because their menu is so extensive but everything I’ve had there has been delicious!

We came hoping to have a birthday party and the staff more than accommodated us with service that was only secondary to the amazing, amazing food . This place is a jewel for authentic Indian food, not only in Northeast Portland but anywhere in Portland.!!!

Single handedly the best Indian food in town. Literally perfect meal, and the best lassi I've ever had

Had the Goat Vindaloo, which ended up being one of the spiciest dishes Ive ever had even after searching Japan and Korea for the spiciest dishes I could find. Phenomenal flavor, generous portions, easily the best Indian food I've ever had and I'll be coming back soon. We also tried the chicken curry and Naan which were delicious.

Best Indian food I’ve had in Portland! As an Indian person, I’ve been unfortunately unimpressed by most Indian restaurants I’ve been to in this city over the last few years, and was delighted by my experience at Daawat a Ishq today. The food was prompt, delicious, and the spice level was legit! We got: aloo tikki chaat, paneer pakora, gobi manchurian, shahi paneer, kadai tofu, assorted bread plate, masala sodas, masala chai, a bottled Indian beer, and a mango lassi - everything spicy level Hot (regular, not extra). The kadai tofu was an all star - the tofu was melt-in-your-mouth like I’ve never experienced before, and the curry was an excellent textural balance, and tasty too!! The shahi paneer was delicious, we just wished there were more paneer in it because it was so good. The gobi manchurian was excellent - crisp and saucy, perfect amount of spicy and sweet and tart. The paneer pakora was a hit with my friends who had less experience with Indian food but loved the idea of a fried cheese 😂 The aloo tikki chaat was a B+ in my book; not showstopping, but was a good introduction to chaat for my friends, and satisfying for me, who has been craving it for weeks. The mango lassi was among the best I’ve ever had. I would advise passing on the masala sodas, they weren’t bad but weren’t as good as everything else. Get a lassi instead lol! The chai was also fine, wish it had some stronger masala but still good. And all this ended up being $35 per person (4 of us total) including tip - for multiple entrees, appetizers, naan, and specialty drinks, with leftovers to take home. I will be returning here very soon!!!

As a Chicano Kid from California, being in Portland looking for real, nose running spice has been a challenge presented to me during my time here so far. This spot gave me spice that paired perfectly with delicious flavor. Their garlic naan had a freshness to it that could put most bakeries to shame. The portions were great and their outside seating with a mug of Taj Mahal on a summer night could ease any troubles you might have. Will be sure to bring all my friends back for more.
