Aside from the otherworldly ambience in Dar Salam- the shish kabob plate is one of the best dishes on all of Alberta. The perfect combination of flavor, soul, and tradition!

What a gem. DarSalam turned a bad night into a great one! Was out with a group of friends for a birthday and when we arrived at the restaurant where we had a reservation…it was closed. No warning. So we walked to DarSalam and they were so nice and we waited for a table for about 15 minutes. Great middle eastern style menu. The mezzanine platter is so good. One of the best falafel in Portland. The tabouli is to die for. So fresh. The chicken kebob plate was delicious with rice and a side of chickpea stew. Service was friendly and helpful. What a great place. We will definitely be back. DarSalam helped make a night ruined by another restaurant down the street into a great night! Thank you!

I cannot get enough of the Adis / lentil soup. It’s like the ultimate comfort food. I had gotten it when I got Covid this year and have been hooked since. I am pretty much borderline eating disorder and this soup always , saves me on a day that I haven’t eaten enough. I feel so thankful for this

Wow! What a gem! Absolutely delicious food & drinks (mango rose water say what?! ? ???) - We shared two dishes when we dined in. A vegan, gluten free falafel mezza platter & a chicken kebab plate w/ slow cooked, perfectly seasoned chickpea stew, & basmati rice. The ambiance felt akin to eating at someone’s wonderful grandparents house. Idk about anyone else but I love my elders, so it fit the vibe we were cultivating and hit the spot just right ?? definitely recommending this spot to friends.Vegetarian options: Definitely a can-do spot for vegans, vegetarians & anyone on a gluten free diet.

The staff was amazing, the food was delectable, and the scenery was more than one could hope for. In particular I throughly enjoyed the veggie sticks.

We tried the shredded lamb rice plate, the chickpea stew, and the eggplant stew. All were exceptional! The service was fast and friendly. We'll definitely come back if we're in the area again.

Amazing. Our neighbors suggested we check-out the food and ambiance. Our party began with a lentil soup that amazed us all: creamy/rich flavors. I thought about licking the bowl afterwards! The chicken kebabs were spot on: char grilled and perfectly moist. The hummus (with warm pita) ranked among the best I've ever enjoyed. Tabouli was delicious: fresh/well seasoned. We've been looking for a good Middle Eastern restaurant and thankfully, we found it! The service was attentive without hovering. The interior and the music made me think we had magically transported to a place far away. Treat your taste buds ( and other senses) to this culinary treat ! We'll be back soon.

Mmm, mmm, good! Very worth your time and money. The hot pita bread was enough, by itself!!! Chicken kabobs were a bit dry, but not so it took any light from the rice and the rest... manna from Heaven?
