Davenport is always an exceptional experience. This time, we brought friends specifically to eat the nettles dumplings -- a seasonal treat that chef Kevin Gibson nails every time. Said friends were blown away, and we were impressed anew. Everything else was remarkable, too -- vegetables fresh and bright, halibut cooked to perfection, wine that was complex and deeply satisfying. The dedication to bringing out the best in seasonal foods is obvious, and the kitchen's light touch is greatly appreciated.

Fresh ingredients served in a creative, savory way. I particularly like the way the prepare various vegetables in such tasty combinations. Fantastic delicious wines from artisan producers in Europe and Oregon. A very knowledgable staff can get you the right bottle.

Davenport remains one of the best restaurants in Portland. The menu is always varied with fresh and seasonal dishes. The food was excellent, as always. The service is highly competent and professional. The wine list is the right length with European and domestic wines. The atmosphere is warm and comfortable with modern lines.

Great food, service, wine with knowledgeable and helpful staff. But the noise level was excruciatingly loud and unpleasant. No particular table offended but a full house, and NOTHING to absorb noise (hard surfaces everywhere), made for an unpleasant din that also made conversation (just two of us) difficult. Suggest you install some panels - ceiling, wall, anything - to absorb some of the din.

The experience at Davenport was wonderful. Delicious, original, satisfying plates. Excellent wine to accompany dinner. Impeccable, knowledgeable service.

Delicious meal of shared plates! Everything works. The roasted Columbia River smelt was a surprising treat.

I was so grateful for the low noise...thoughtful pacing...delicious food...and great service. Super special.

The food is consistently delicious, well conveying its inherent flavor without burying it under a sauce that obscures it. The menu is wine friendly, and the wine list is well-juried and fairly priced.

The food and wine were both lovely. Set your expectations to spend a couple hours for dinner. The kitchen is small so just kick back and enjoy

Davenport is my all-time favorite Portland restaurant. It's an intimate restaurant with great service, an extensive wine list and wonderfully prepared food. Chef Kevin Gibson is outstanding. Everything he cooks is to perfection. This is the place to go when you want beautifully prepared food and great wine. I love Davenport.

We have enjoyed meals at Davenport in the past, but this may have been our favorite. Gorgeous tomatoes, lightly dressed with olive oil, feta, and oregano showcasing the tomatoes with perfect balance. Perfectly poached squid, shrimp, and scallops in a salad of frizee and savory fried chickpea? dumplings. Translucent spinach/ricotta ravioli with chanterelle mushrooms. Finally, a beautiful, airy rolled cake with strawberries and whipped cream. We've eaten at 20+ Michelin starred restaurants but this was one of the best meals we've ever had.

Kevin and the crew knocked it out of the park as usual. Lots of variety on the menu with each plate presented in a lovely fashion. Jeremy's pairing suggestions were on point and he was kind enough to share a glass of something I mentioned that I wanted to learn a bit more about. They take very good care of you at Davenport. All in all an evening very well spent!

Without question, the food and service at Davenport is exceptional. The ambiance is a bit cold, perhaps aligning with the minimalist perfection of the food. Davenport serves delicious food, wine, and cocktails. It is very expensive. Be prepared for tiny portions of locally sourced food for a higher end price. If you are on a budget; you will likely enjoy beautiful food and leave hungry. We spent $250+ for six drinks and five shared small plates.

The food was brilliant, service wasn’t on point the night we went but there was only one server so have to cut him a break. Overall a great little spot that’s been there a while and doesn’t get much attention…it’s a great place for a date night or just a casual night out with friends for some very well made food and cocktails were delicious too! Bravo.

Superlatives abound for Davenport - a charming and classy dining establishment located in a converted auto garage where the front wall of the restaurant slides up to connect diners with the lively street ambiance and clean, fresh air of Portland. This is a magical location, decorated in soft tones of green, where a couple or a group can enjoy a perfect dinner and each other's company perfectly. While not a vegan restaurant by any stretch- we had two vegans in our group and, like every top-notch restaurant on the planet, the chefs took on the vegan challenge with relish and aplomb. The vegan meal from this kitchen was incredible - farm fresh vegetables and salads with delicious crusty bread. The cucumber soup was amazing. I had the halibut, which was seared perfectly and served on a bed of summer beans and tomatoes that was an ideal complement to the fish. The wine list here is extensive - with servings from local wineries and a nice global selection as well. You can never go wrong with a Willamette Pinot! The Italian Sauvignon was crisp and clear and paired well with the vegan dishes especially. The owners of Davenport have put together something really special - if you are looking for fine dining in Portland - Davenport belongs at the top of your list!
