I came by about 1 months ago and get the best tasting pizza that I had eaton in years.

Made the mistake and got a medium size pizza this time and I am so disgusted. The pizza was so dry, almost no sauce on it. I'm 1000 years old and have never experienced a pizza that was so dry. I'm going to try and get some sauce and see if I can doctor it up. That way I won't have spent over $30 just to throw it out.

I won't be back, my mind kept saying not to stop by today. I should have listened to my mind.

I have been here a few times and it was always a great experience. This last time, I reserved the Banquet room for a group of women friends and I. The service was excellent and very friendly, as always. The atmosphere was pleasant, and the food was absolutely delicious, as always. Oh my gosh, I am so in love with their minestrone soup! It is so fresh and looks like it was made by a loving Italian grandmother. Their dishes like the lasagna, manicotti, etc. are so full of mouth watering melt in your mouth cheese and the sauce is so good too. Their salads are really good with the homemade dressings too. They also give you little plates of antipasto and a basket of bread with one piece of focaccia bread when you order a main dish. Oh, the bread is yummy. All my friends loved the food. Oh gosh, their desserts too, fancy cakes with whipped cream and cherries as well as cannolis with chocolate chips on one side and pistachio pieces on the other drizzled in chocolate with whipped cream and cherries. Absolute heaven. Even cool music like Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra in the background. I highly recommend this place.

I first ate at this restaurant probably close to 20 years ago and got the chicken Parm and it was out of this world. The chicken was juicy and you could tell it was prepared in house.

I just left there today and also got the chicken Parm and it was not good at all. You could tell the chicken used was pre-breaded and frozen. It was dry and chewy. For the price I paid it was absolutely not worth it at all. The sauce was good but, had me wondering if it was made in house too. Needless to say I will continue to make my chicken Parm at home.

Food was good but I'm pissed off that I left an ample tip at the table ($20) and they still added an $11 tip or what ever when I got my statement from my bank... I will not eat at any place that adds a tip to my bill on top of what I leave at the table... not worth a $31 dollar tip... DO NOT leave a tip at the table, they will just take more when ringing you up anyway

We ordered take out. When the food arrived it was still warm which was nice. We ordered two lasagnas that came with bread. The lasagna was pretty oily, had larger pieces of sausage throughout the inside but all in all it tasted good to me. My spouse thought the lasagna was a too spicy and didn't end up eating it due to the spice level and how much oil there was. The to go container was leaking oil outside so the bag was oily and they didn't provide utensils or napkins but we were at home so that was okay. The bread was fresh and soft which we did like.

I won't cross DeNicola's off the list yet - while we wouldn't order the lasagna again we do want to give them a fair shot at the restaurant to see if better! I will update my review once we do so.

DeNicola's is a great date night destination. Old School Portland in a casual and inviting atmosphere. Food is consistently great, with outrageous portions. Servers are so accommodating and friendly you feel like a regular from you're very first visit.
