So, I've eaten Indian food here & there throughout my life and never been too enamored with it. Lived in a food desert for more than 2 decades. In Portland for a little R&R & sightseeing. The California girl in me LOVES street food & food trucks. I love lamb, too, and am of a certain age now . . . so I like it SPICY, now, too . . After a disappointing gyro that was not anything like an authentic gyro and sushi rolls that reminded me why real sushi chefs need to apprentice for, at least a decade, I threw caution to the wind and ordered the Lamb Vindaloo here. [I don't know what these people complaining about the butter chicken are on about. I didn't order the butter chicken. I recommend you try the Tikka Masala, Vindaloo, or biryani.] Once alone with the lamb Vindaloo, basmati, & naan, what followed was a foodgasm. I returned to my roots. I returned to the cave. The food orgy that followed is NSFW. I cannot show the pictures. Suffice it to say that by the end, I was gasping for breath, my eyes were watering, my nose was dripping from the heat, and I was MORE than satisfied and pleasantly surprised. [Not sure of the role the Wunder gummies & vodka may have played] Unlike the food from Dhaba's neighbors, which were consigned to a nearby dumpster, these Indian leftovers are coming home with me! Yum! I will come back for this spicy vindaloo!

So I had a nasty cold when I visited this place, so my tastebuds may have been negatively affected, therefore I'm not going to give this place a truly bad review. The Chana Masala was ok. It wasn't bad. It certainly wasn't great either. The rice was perfectly cooked. The Chana Masala was a generous portion, but a bit heavily salted. To be blunt: The overall flavor wasn't great. They may have just been having an off day.
This place isn't really good for Vegans. Most of the food has Ghee or meat\seafood, and I gather the items that don't are a bit lacking in flavor. I don't want to negatively affect their business so I recommend you try it out for yourself and form your own opinion.

The butter chicken literally tasted closer to plain tomato sauce than real butter chicken, probably the worst food I've had since being back in Portland

“Welcome, contestants of Generic Food Network Competition Show, your task today is to create an authentic Indian dish with nothing but the ingredients from this local Italian restaurant and a tortilla. You have 1 hour. GO!”

This food is that of the contestant that got eliminated in the first round for putting unseasoned tomato soup or perhaps marinara mix with some chicken thighs, then topped it with a tortilla, and called it Butter Chicken with Garlic Naan.

The chicken were cooked alright. They were thighs that were NOT overcooked to chewy oblivion. However, the sauce tasted like a watery and too-sweet tomato soup. The naan was one step away from being a chewy tortilla. It wasn’t gross, but it was not good butter chicken. I can’t say anything for their other food or their atmosphere/service, but the butter chicken leaves much to be desired.

Ordered the butter chicken and garlic naan. Food wasn’t bad but it wasn’t butter chicken. It was more like a sweet tomato soup in both taste and texture. Tasted alright but just was not butter chicken. The garlic naan was okay. Really thin and reminded me more of a tortilla than other naans I’ve had. Again not bad just not what I would expect when getting Indian food. Tastes like they only had access to an Italian restaurants kitchen and tried to make butter chicken.

Tandoori chicken was excellent, especially considering the price.

OMG, the biryani is the bomb... My only ding against the rating was that it was a bit pricey and the person running the cart asked if I wanted bread...I said sure, but they didn't explain that it was another $4 for one piece...I guess I should have asked. I will got back for that biryani, but will know what I'm paying next time anyone offers any extra item

The food was undercooked and tasted terrible. Extremely disappointed with the quality. I won’t be ordering from this restaurant again.

A few months ago, I ordered their lunch platter and asked for it to be spicy, but it wasn’t spicy at all.

Today, I tried their gobhi ka parantha, and it was absolutely amazing. I don’t know the name of the person who made it, but they did a fantastic job. I requested it to be spicy, and they delivered—100% authentic!

My favorite food cart on the block, their lunch special is a great price for a great value. Naan, rice and two small portions of a chicken and veggie entree. Today it was pouring rain and they threw in a samosa for me.
