Menu has been gutted, emailed to let them know I was disastisfied, but the owner (of 3 successful businesses) complained about the price of eggs instead of taking any feedback. I don't think he needs anyones money.
Little quotes from the owner: "I recall the Yelp review complaining I was trying to turn a beloved institution into a fancy restaurant for running a “gentrified burger”'
"We aren’t open to your menu design"
"Hell, this time last year a dozen eggs cost $1.94. Today it’s $14.50. 10 years ago, minimum wage was $9.25, now it’s $16.50"
All over some feedback about my distaste of the new menu.

Initially I had written a poor review of Dots. A few days later I returned with some friends. Upon getting my drinks the owners asked if I was the one who left the review and I said yes. They then kindly asked that if there's anything wrong, that I speak with them in person so they can have the opportunity to make it right. They even comped our drinks.

I cannot express enough how kind and cordial they were with the interaction. You don't get that in a lot of places. I've been a patron of Dots for some years now and have many fond memories there. The owners expressed that they've been finding out what Dots means to the community and are doing what they can to maintain its integrity! I'm confident Dots is in great hands!

I prefer to eat elsewhere and come to Dots for drinks, but their vegan options are still good and a reliable late night option

Best late night food for after a show in PDX. Southern Dandy sandwich is a standout.

There is no wait staff to take orders at your table so everything is ordered at the bar by ONE employee, which might work for a Monday, but definitely not a Thursday. When you order food and they lose your food ticket order, you will be expected to still pay full price for it an hour after they have 'rushed' it through. And then the general attitude is, 'We don't care you had to wait an hour for your food, we just want our $'. The nachos were awful. The music was too loud, and everything was dirty, sticky, and gross. Never. Going. Back.

I’ve been coming here for 10 years. I have to say, there have been problems coming and going since COVID, but especially in the past year that aren’t going away. One is how the music from the kitchen is played so loudly, you hear it on top of the regular music being played in the bar area. It’s happened to me and others multiple times. No one wants to deal with that, it’s obnoxious, and will have people not coming back. Especially if you have auditory/sensory differences. One time the outside patio music was competing with the live music coming from an event at the Clinton Street Theatre (a cherished gem the bar was proud to collaborate with and respect). I brought this up to a white guy with longer hair and he said he can’t control the music from the theater. …… Yeah, no kidding, but you can turn down YOURS. Also you can tell that the staff are aware of the music problem from the kitchen because they go in and out serving food on the floor and it’s obvious. Last time I was in, my quesadilla took 45 minutes to be served and my friends meal was a whole hour. Separate orders made at different times. Some bartenders are ok, some seem apathetic and negative. Sucks to see it this way, the customer culture used to be so cool and consistent. BIPOC, queer, wide variety of ages. They wpuld play A Tribe Called Quest, blues, jazz, old school hip hop, great music. This new management or shift leads or whatever the root problem is has slowly killed it off. Now it’s white boy sad music, not much variety . The same staff used to stick around for years, worked so hard, and made genuine connections with customers. Now it seems like the past 4 times I’ve been there, the staff are having loud conversations behind the bar complaining about job related things. Whoever put so much love into this place, I hope they either come back or slap the shti out of whoever is neglecting it. The attached video is of the two songs annoyingly being played on top of each other.

Dots is THE hangout spot for mental health workers after a long shift. The reasonably priced kitchen sink fries and chicken strip basket are my go-to’s, atmosphere and music are always on-point, friendly staff (bartender Eddie is awesome); I gotta come for brunch sometime!
