Exceptional coffee & 'pastry cuisine' offered by Electrica! While appearing as though simply an amenity to Schoolhouse Electric; their cohesive atmosphere, as well as their wonderful baristas crown the café as a venue in itself. Personally enjoyed the continuum of warehouse style w/ both the light wood & elegant lighting- I'd consider this a rather serene location for study or meeting others, especially w/ the (apparently!) reduced popularity during the afternoon. It's a bit removed from the city centre, but likely benefits from this w/ abundant parking & quiet surroundings :-)If it's worth mentioning my private experience; I entered after making a minor pilgrimage across the commercial area they're located in, nearing close, I felt a bit tenuous over how long I could remain. Yet, despite this, I were so incredibly welcomed & had not only a divine mocha, but an inviting conversation w/ Michelle, the active barista- if I've spelled her name properly, haha (omit where necessary..)She managed to facilitate a coffee-based memory, whilst simultaneously cultivating a uniquely natural dialog, even kindly maintained while an exodus of others began nearing close. Tragic may it be, I'm only visiting Portland briefly, but I'd certainly be a candidate for entering this café as a routine regular- and, highly recommend any to visit this iconic building!

We were really excited to try Electrica coffee, but honestly, the experience was not great. The barista we had was rude. We asked for a drink recommendation and she said “you should get what you like” which was less than helpful. She was very short with us and would not even look at us when we asked questions. The crafted drinks were mediocre at best. The rice donuts were unique and tasty. The vibe was really cute, and had a lot of space to study/work. The cafe has a lot of potential if the staff was just a little nicer.

Tried the Sake Ginger Latte, which was pretty good! Inside of Schoolhouse (lighting and home goods). Limited parking on the adjacent street or parking lot

Great airy space and delicious coffee. Very balanced. Barista was sweet and apologized for overfilling the foam but it’s so beautiful!

The barista provided great service, but the cappuccino I ordered was not drinkable. The espresso was over extracted and the drink tasted like sink water. The space was comfortable, but everyone and their mom was working. Including a few people who brought wireless mice and they were incessantly clicking.

A beautifully clean, airy, and comfortable industrial space. It's modern and cozy-a great place to sit and read solo, or come chat with a friend. Service is friendly and everything feels curated with great attention to detail. Pour over menu is extensive. I had coffee (they have fun fusion lattes to explore), and will want to come back to make my way through their equally extensive tea menu. Food is limited to a few mochi sweet pastries-I wouldn't have minded a bit more selection. The stoneware elevates the drinking experience. I recommend getting your drinks "for here"; sit, and enjoy for a moment.

Very cool little spot located on the ground floor of an old building. My sake ginger latte was very good and the barista was very friendly. Not a ton of parking, but lots of seating.

overall: 4.5/5 drink: 4.5/5 service: 4/5 ambiance: 5/5 what a wonderful spot for coffee/study sessions! i came with my friend on a saturday morning and most of the tables were filled. the interior is so calming and cute, and i appreciate that there is a good amount of seating that is spaced out. i believe that the seasonal drinks menu changes, so we ordered the cinnamon sugar matcha and the sake ginger latte. keep in mind that they do charge and extra .50 cents for to go cups! i had the cinnamon sugar matcha, hot, and it was immaculate. not too strong of a matcha flavor, but enough that it is not overpowering and still delicious. electrica makes it right. i had a sip of my friends' sake ginger latte, and i was blown away by how good it was! can't really taste the ginger much, but all i can say is that both the drinks you cannot go wrong with. service was also great, the barista/cash register was very kind and patient with us and gave us a good recommendation on what to order :). i would be back again!

Cool place with enticing interior but the pretensions fall hard because of poor execution and lack of attention to detail. The "ceremonial" matcha was served lukewarm and in a indelicate cup and unmatched saucer, which voided the ceremony part. I understand: it's America. But don't serve matcha, and definitely don't call it ceremonial if you can't pull it off. The coffee wasn't that great either. Like the matcha, it wasn't served hot enough, and it was too weak. That is a big deal at this level of pretension. It was served in a dark Japanese sake carafe and a wee rustic teacup. Someone evidently thought this was cute or clever or even risqué but it actually made the coffee less palatable, and it felt kinda silly. The place looks cool but sadly falls apart on closer examination. I know this seems like nit-picking on my part but when it's all about the coffee, or tea, it has be done well, with elegance and panache.

Loved the mochi donuts but the banana bread was spoiled (rope spoilage) and the barista did not appreciate us letting her know.

This matcha latte was delicious and the perfect amount of sweetness and matcha taste. You can see the team making the drinks and the worker who made my drink was very nice. There was plenty of seating and it is located within Schoolhouse decor. My fiancé was able to sit and work while I chatted with our other friend. There is also a parking lot with a good amount of spaces. My friend also mentioned how delicious her shot of espresso was. I would definitely go again if i'm in the area.

That’s some unusual coffee but I will take it . Gladly !At the edge of the industrial district of Northwest Portland, Schoolhouse Electric & Supply Co. is a Portland staple filled with modern heirlooms. The brick building contains a showroom and that’s where this amazing cultural explosion of flavors also occupies a space. The eclectic pairing of Mexican coffee with Japanese tea is something that no one else in the city does . The coffee is from Reforma Roasters, and they partnered with Yugen for their tea, a popular Kyoto-based specialty tea company. The ambience is relaxed and there is certainly a feeling of the space being not fully utilized with a lot of empty space or perhaps that’s the vibe they are going for . There is also very apt drinkware to go with the beverages . I appreciated my saikyo latte which had the subtle saltiness from the miso but the caramel certainly kept it a sweeter beverage . My only feedback would be that it wasn’t hot at all , Luke warm at best . The Mochi matcha donut was unique in texture but delivered on flavor . It came across very dense and extremely sweet .I wouldn’t probably get its again but I can see it would be a hit with customers who appreciate something on the more sweeter side . Service was fast and friendly .
