Charming German artisan bakery that transforms into a beer garden in warmer months. The only place you can find a good, authentic German pretzel in Portland!
We love the Nutella Swirl, Bee Sting pastries & pretzel breakfast sandwiches.
Go before 10am for best pastry selection and seating.

Loved to find a coffee shop / bakery with a German theme, and the quality was phenomenal! Recommend the pretzel baguette. Prices are very reasonable too.

I'm a sucker for a local bakery and this is no exception. The pretzels, bread and pastries as all great and you need to try them all. I recommend the almond brioche, it reminds me so much of my mom's bread pudding.

The closest I’ve come to Bayern Brezeln. Wish they had good German beer and that is my only complaint.

Yummy pastries. Looking to go back soon.
I wear my Fressen hat and shirt regularly in every kitchen I work. Sometimes people ask about it and I tell them they wont find better German baked goods anywhere near. Sorry and thank you. I met someone recently that reminded me of Fressen, everything comes full circle in the restaurant industry in Portland and I remembered I never left a review. Looks like you are still crushing it.

Fressen Artisan Bakery is a true gem in Portland, and their pretzel baguette is an absolute standout. The perfect blend of a soft, airy interior and a crisp, salty pretzel crust makes it a unique and irresistible treat. Every bite bursts with rich, buttery flavor and that signature pretzel goodness. The bakery itself exudes charm, with friendly staff and a selection of beautifully crafted breads and pastries. Whether you're grabbing a quick treat or stocking up on artisan bread, Fressen never disappoints.

I love Fressen. I think their pastry's and pretzel sandwiches are so delicious. I enjoy working there a bit while savoring my order. It's a welcoming and lovely place. I often get the croissants, fransbrots, and fruit pastries, but everything has been great.

Fressen has an amazing atmosphere. The coffee came out quickly and tasted great. The cappuccino art was not very pretty, but the it did taste great, and to me that’s what matters. My wife got an iced latte with hazelnut flavor added, and that was seriously delicious.
We split a breakfast bagel sandwich, which comes on a pretzel bagel. The honey mustard made the sandwich a little too sweet to me, but definitely a delicious sandwich.
They also have a lot of breads and pastries which all look amazing
