Friendship Kitchen is an east Portland gem. We've tried several of their dishes, but our favorites are the vegetarian pho and the tofu bánh xèo. The flavors are wonderful, so many delicious fresh herbs, and everything is consistently great quality. They have a lovely outdoor seating area that's nice all year.

TO GO ORDERS BEWARE!!! this used to be one of the best places to pick up orders from and now it is by far one of the worst. I don't know what has changed in the last month but the wait times are now never less than 30 minutes. In a city where the food industry is one of the biggest competitive markets you would think they would be more on top of it. Oh well I guess, friendship cafe our friendship has come to an end unfortunately.

Amazing Vegan Vietnamese Food! 🇻🇳🌱
I tried the Wholesome Plate, which came with vegan meat, a crispy egg roll, pickles, and rice that is so satisfying! 🍚
The vegan meat had a great texture and was packed with flavor, and they even served it with a vegan nuoc mam (Vietnamese fish sauce-style dip). I loved it!
All the vegan options were clearly marked with “VGN”, so it was easy to order. 🙌
The outdoor seating was beautiful, perfect for a relaxing meal.
I recommend this place if you’re looking for delicious vegan Vietnamese food!

Incredible food. In a city full of good Vietnamese this place stands above. I live right near luc lac but would personally walk miles to go here instead. It's really that good.

Delivered raw meat without any warning. Unsafe and completely inedible. Reported to the health department for review

Edit: In response to the owner's reply. I am aware this is how traditional pho is served, but this is not legal in a to-go context without specifying that you are serving raw food that needs to be further prepared. A reasonable customer who has never tried pho could have VERY easily gotten sick from what you served. In my case you sent me raw meat at work, where I had absolutely no way to heat the broth to an acceptable temperature.

The tradition of fresh meat in pho is not the problem, the lack of communication with the consumer is the issue.

Reported to the health department as of 11/3/2025. I will follow up with that report here.

For the record, you can rectify this issue by either stating that the item is served raw, like most sushi places do, or you can serve it cooked, like most pho places do when its to-go.

This is literally the only place my partner and I order pho from. It is consistently exceptional every single time. We have ordered well over 20+ times. The pho arrives raw!! It is supposed to!!! The broth cooks it. My boyfriend and I love putting everything together in a large pot and arranging our garnishing the way we like before sharing it together. You all are our very favorite and absolutely amazing. Cannot recommend enough!

I've yet to have something I didn't like and the dish with the while shrimp is life changing.

The owners of this restaurant are phenomenal—so generous, kind, and deeply involved in the community. They regularly give back to people in need, which says so much about who they are. Their warmth and hospitality are what first drew me in, especially since I don’t usually visit Vietnamese restaurants. But after trying this place once, I’ve been going back religiously ever since!

They have two convenient locations and a huge variety of food. My personal favorites are the steak frites, the wholesome plate, and the abundance bowls—all fabulous. And their lobster puffs are so unbelievably yummy!

I also really appreciate that they have so many gluten-free and vegan options, which has been amazing for friends of mine with dietary restrictions. Everyone can find something here.

Most of all, I love knowing that when I eat here, I’m supporting some of the most wonderful people. This is exactly the kind of local business our community is lucky to have—caring, generous, and absolutely delicious.

Got food delivered, food was good (shaken chicken, beef pho, prawn cracker, salt&pepper chicken).
My only complaint was the shaken chicken’s sauce spilled everywhere in the delivery bag and stained our dining table. Couldnt get the stain out!! Help😢😓
