The menu doesn’t reflect their real prices. They charge a service fee vs being transparent and pricing in a way to pay their people fairly. Bad business practices
The chicken parm FTW! The cocktail game is on point!

Always a fav stop with I’m in Portland, even if I eat my food too quickly to get pics of most of it.
The homemade pasta, the salads, the shotzerella, the chicken parm… getting hungry all over again just thinking about it. Can’t wait to revisit and see what new things they’ve got on the menu!

The calamari is one of the best, if not the best in town. I used to think that Jake's had the best, but now I know my favorite. It would have been nice to have bread come with the meal or a nice chocolate desert, but the food was so good it made up for it.

Oh man, this food reminded me of my childhood. We loved the Stacciatela with squash on sourdough. Also the chicken parm is huge and can feed 2-4 people depending on appetites. The meatballs were a little bit spicy bit still delicious.

Hmmmm. Beginning to think there aren’t many folks in the NW that know what great Italian food is about. I gave a two-star rating, because honestly, the focaccia bread was truly amazing or I would have left one star. The acoustics in this place are so ridiculously loud, you cannot have a conversation. We ordered simple. Spaghetti with red sauce & meatballs, and a seasonal French Onion soup inspired agnolotti, (basically slender, rectangular ravioli). Starting with the red sauce. Seriously? Zero flavor. Tasted like the bottom of a can of crushed tomatoes that were heated for 5-min or less. No herbs. No garlic. Completely bland. The meatballs were the redeeming addition, but what a disappointment! The French onion agnolotti, stuffed with breadcrumbs & cheese would have been okay except for the overwhelming flavor of vermouth to mimic French onion soup. The pasta was a bit too al dente, which takes away from what should have been “soft pillows” exploding with flavor. Expensive dinner. Sadly disappointed. Service was great though. Should have just had wine & focaccia. 🤷♀️

Although it was a bit noisy, Gabianno's is a great place for dinner! Staff were SO welcoming and accommodating! The food was delectable!!!
We visited on a Wednesday night, and the place was surprisingly busy. They don’t take reservations, only walk-ins, so when we arrived around 6:30 p.m., we were told the wait would be about an hour. Since we had driven 45 minutes to get there, we decided to wait. Honestly, I’m not sure it was worth it. The food was decent, but nothing special.
Before coming, I looked up the restaurant on Google Maps, read the reviews, and even picked out what I wanted to order. Unfortunately, they change their menu often, and the dish I wanted was no longer available, which was disappointing.
We ordered the fried mozzarella (which were the best part of the meal), the classic spaghetti with meatballs, and the Dungeness crab pasta with vodka sauce. The spaghetti tasted good, but the noodles were a little overcooked and soggy. The crab pasta had nice flavor, but it would’ve been better with meatballs or sausage instead of crab.
Our total came to about $80 for two people, and we did have some leftovers. The restaurant is tucked into a neighborhood, which makes it feel kind of hidden, and parking was tough, just crowded street parking.
Overall, not terrible, but not great either. The food was fine, the atmosphere was a bit loud, but I probably wouldn’t drive that far to come back. I would maybe come back if they had a white sauce pasta option.

I found this spot through TikTok in search of Italian restaurants while spending my birthday weekend in Portland. I won’t say the food was bad but I certainly wasn’t impressed. For the price I paid, I would’ve been better off going to Olive Garden and getting more bang for my buck and, personally, better tasting food. I still recommend trying if you’re interested but the food is mid in my opinion.

Best Italian in portland in my opinion. My fiance and I go here as much as we can. They also easily seated my birthday party of 8 people on a Monday night no problem.

A forced 20% service charge on top of the bill is infuriating. Won't be back unless this is changed.
