Gen Korean BBQ House

Main reason for my review was for our server on 10/19 named Dylan. Dylan, you’re literally the best server we’ve had since this location opened up and we were all so excited to have you as our server! Other times we’ve gone we’ve had servers that weren’t rude, but definitely didn’t care. Give Dylan a raise, you made the whole experience AMAZING and we’ve been here a bunch (including to the California Fullerton location before moving). DYLAN THANKS FOR BEING SO AMAZING! HIRE MORE PEOPLE LIKE DYLAN PLEASE

I’ve been going to Gen for years in California and missed it so much up until this location opened! They don’t have rice paper here like they do in California but that’s okay! The food is great as usual but I do have a single complaint, I feel like the salad changed :( never had any complaints with it up until our last visit on 10/19 and it wasn’t as good as all the times before :((( if anyone out there is debating on going here to try it out, GO AND DO IT! You won’t regret it!

Correct me if I'm wrong (please!), but Gen has the best selection of meats of any K-BBQ in the Portland metro and it's the only one I'm aware of that doesn't have a 2 person limit so introverts like me can actually experience this. I might file a change of address to this place and just move in. Everything including banchan, appetizers, and soup are AYCE, so go nuts!

Meat was great! However, the wait time to get your order and cook it is a bit much. We had to ask multiple times for the meat. Asked for the rice twice before it comes out. By the time the meat is cooked no rice. The sides was so little and they give u 1 side per table. There is 2 off us. So we get to order for each. Yet they limit that.

Great options, meat portions come in small batches which is more palatable to consume. Depending on type of meat flavor is just right.

I like how the grill was changed actively by staff which contributes to great tasting food.

All the sides are from microwave food, salty and taste strangely.
The meat marinade flavor is simply not good enough for the price.
Won't go again.

Had a horrible experience the last time I visited. No one at podium checking guests in. Waited nearly 20 minutes to get acknowledged. Another 20 for table. No table touch. Service sucked.

Really disappointed in the service tonight.
Last time i came here I had a great dinner. It took forever to get our drinks, of which barely had any alcohol in them. The meat was quick and we got that before we got anything else. We had to ask 3x for a grill change and more napkins, among other things. It did not seem understaffed and a lot of the waiters were just standing around. Our waiter was barely around. I know Gen from California and I was excited for this to open… and now I’m bummed

I come here pretty often because I'm absolutely addicted to beef bulgogi, but today's service was amazing. Our server, Israel, went above and beyond and deserves all the kudos and praise (and also if possible, a raise)

Great staff members; very attentive. Even though there is a large selection of items, the portions were very small—not worth the price especially for group setting.

Great taste, tiny portions, huge bill, long waits. My money is better spent and belly better filled elsewhere.

Ventilation at table was insufficient to keep the smoke and fumes out of our faces. Showers all around when we got home, we were covered in a fine layer of grease and smell.
