Ordering from here feels like walking into a bad sketch comedy show about the pretentious Brooklyn coffee shop.
You can be condescending but you can't do that and have bad coffee. I'm sorry if you hate your job but I promise I don't have anything to do with that. Please don't take it out on me

These baristas are overworked and tired of the crowds 😆 . None of our drink specifications (ice in tea, splash of cream in coffee) were listened to, but based on the expressions of misery we were met with, we decided not to say anything and just enjoy the chance to sit down. It wasn’t overbearingly loud as we feared but it’s certainly not a place you can really settle into. The tea and drip coffee are average.
If you really need to sit down and have a drink, it’s kind of nice, being around the books and people watching. But I’d recommend going elsewhere if you have the option.

Even though it’s part of a larger bookstore, every time I go there, the café staff are so sweet to me, they always remember me. I really love this little local coffee shop tucked away and I can’t say enough good things about how nice it is to just sit with a little coffee and find some peace in there. ✌️🖤☕️

Coffe was good, well toasted bagel, but a scrap of butter for $6? When I asked for the cream cheese since my reciept said cream cheese, they said sorry, it's either cream cheese or butter. Lol. Most expensive bagel in the world. No thanks.
Especially nice cafe within Powell's flagship store in Portland, OR

Laid back place to read a book and relax inside Powell's House of Books. Various kinds of seating. Moderate selection of food and drinks. No one tries to rush you out. Mellow music.

Coffee was poor. Latte shouldn't be this color. Baristas were more involved in their conversation than with their customers. My grandmother was served an ice coffee instead of an iced tea, which they rectified fortunately. Overall overpriced and poor quality. Will not be back.

Highlight of our trip to Powells was a beautiful cup of coffee at Guilder. Friendly staff and beautiful relaxing space. Buy yourself a cup and new book and enjoy.

Between the two of us, we ordered a bagel with lox (yummy), a breakfast sandwich (delicious), and the hummus (could've used more salt) and baba ganoush with pita. We also ordered an Americano (meh) and a honey lavender latte (delightful!). It was a nice spot to chill and regain some energy in the middle of book shopping.
