Laid back place to read a book and relax inside Powell's House of Books. Various kinds of seating. Moderate selection of food and drinks. No one tries to rush you out. Mellow music.

Coffee was poor. Latte shouldn't be this color. Baristas were more involved in their conversation than with their customers. My grandmother was served an ice coffee instead of an iced tea, which they rectified fortunately. Overall overpriced and poor quality. Will not be back.

Highlight of our trip to Powells was a beautiful cup of coffee at Guilder. Friendly staff and beautiful relaxing space. Buy yourself a cup and new book and enjoy.

Between the two of us, we ordered a bagel with lox (yummy), a breakfast sandwich (delicious), and the hummus (could've used more salt) and baba ganoush with pita. We also ordered an Americano (meh) and a honey lavender latte (delightful!). It was a nice spot to chill and regain some energy in the middle of book shopping.

This place has the best bagel and lox that I've had in Portland

Noisy and crowded, but nice feeling of being with kindred spirits. They were out of my first choice of tea, and also my second and finally I ended up with their default green tea. My wife has an apple bran muffin, which was very nice, not one of those factory issue muffins.

Good ambiance and quick service, but unfortunately the hummus and baba ghanoush were quite bland - I expected better for $15

Had another bad experience here with my daughter. Rude barista ignored our order details, screwed it up and then acted as though it was our fault.

This is one of my favorite places to visit. The food is nice, and there are options for different dietary needs. The employees offer very good customer service, and the atmosphere is calm, but lively. My favorite part is having books around to browse and read.
Dietary restrictions: They have vegetarian options that have gluten, they also have gluten free options. I am allergic to dairy, eggs, and gluten, so it's nice to have a few options. Some of the Gluten free options sell out quickly, so it's best to get there early.

I love that this coffee shop is in Powells. I also love that this is a short walk from my house and probably one of the best coffee shops in Portland. No matter who makes your drink itâs always delicious.. there are other great coffee shops in town but they arenât consistent. Thanks for being so good everytime
