This place was such a pleasant surprise during our trip. The food tasted great, the prices were reasonable, and it felt like a very authentic Japanese restaurant. The rice bowl in the photo originally came with tuna, scallops, and salmon. Since I don’t eat tuna, I asked to replace it with salmon, and it worked perfectly. The portion was generous and the price was very fair.

Another must-order item is the small sukiyaki pot, which was just a little over eight dollars. It was surprisingly good, even though I forgot to take a photo. These two dishes were definitely the highlights for me.

From the moment you walk in to the moment you leave, the staff greet you in Japanese, which really adds to the atmosphere. Overall, it was a great experience and a place I’d happily visit again.

Hachi is a hidden gem. Very reasonable prices for the quality you get, the food tastes authentic and well executed. The environment is clean, comfortable, and relaxing, not noisy or rushed. Every dish we tried was fresh and well prepared.

Definitely a great spot if you’re looking for good Japanese food at a fair price. Worth coming back again.

I love Japanese food, especially sashimi, and upgrading to otoro was a great decision. Everything was incredibly fresh and delicious.
The miso soup and edamame were also excellent.
My husband, however, was surprised that wasabi cost an extra $3 — not something you see every day 🙂

I came from California and I didn't find food in this Japanese restaurant to be delicious.

Great food, really stands out! Nice small dishes for great prices. The hotpot was the perfect size and the iron pot kept everything warm on a cold day. The restaurant music was too loud for normal conversation and the room was colder than I’d like. This was in December so the cold makes sense.

I’m Japanese, and the food here is high quality, authentic, and easy on the stomach. Ramen is $20 at other places, but it’s $12 here. Very good and satisfying.

We had such a wonderful experience here. The food was delicious, and the service was incredibly kind and attentive. Our child is very sensitive to loud noises, so we had to ask if they could slightly lower the usual lively, energetic Japanese izakaya atmosphere. We felt bad for making the request, but the staff were so understanding and considerate.

Thank you so much for accommodating us — it meant a lot to our family.
We’re visiting from Vancouver, and we will definitely come back again!

We make trips from Tacoma just to eat here. Seattle doesn't even have this quality izakaya. Make another one closer to us!!!!

Best sushi for the price point. The garlic carpaccio was fantastic. Chaotic service, but overall a good experience.
