Thank you Jessie for being a badass barslinger and making us feel welcome - Donny on thr KJ working that magic and keeping it fun - the best part of the place indeed were all the other party goers. Saturday night bar tender was great! Such a lovely soul. The guy running karaoke however wasn’t. He had an attitude to songs he didn’t like, and would make comments to the room after people were done singing. He did this to my friend for singing a rock song. We was there for my friends birthday mind you. The guy wouldn’t play songs he didn’t like and would keep moving songs down the list. I waited 4 hours and never got to sing.. But the same group of guys were able to sing songs on repeat? And they were too trashed to even remember the words? And When they wasn’t singing, the karaoke guy was? So this place left a bad taste in my mouth.

Honestly I haven't found a good karaoke spot in Portland, I wouldn't say this one is good either, but it's better. I like that the people there were fun and it felt like a house party more than karaoke, so it's not so scary to sing in front of people. The host is a great hype man, he's super engaging and the overall environment is really fun in that drunk karaoke type of way.
I think it could be better if the mics and speakers were turned down. It's a tiny place, and the volume level was honestly dangerous for your hearing threshold and that's super harsh and damaging to the sound equipment in general.
The second recommendation I would make is allowing everyone to sing their song before having a hierarchy to the line. It took over an hour for anyone outside a specific party to sing their first song, while folks within their party were singing back to back. There was a lot of screaming into the mics, while the volume was turned up, so we left after 1 song. My ears are actually still ringing.

Do not go to this bar. Woman who was beyond drunk, exposing herself, and needed help kicked outside. Bartender insulting, disrespectful, and not able to serve 20 people alone. Not a good time.

Great spot with good people working behind the bar. Usually someone screaming in the mic and a blaring sign that reads KARAOKE out front. Comfortable and confident space themed after The Shining with all the decor centered around the film, including a giant typewriter right when you enter. Great KJs and solid drinks.
