I got coffee here a lot when they first opened, despite being a bit put-off by the month-long flurry of customers taking selfies. The owners were kind, and the energy felt colorful and welcoming.

I visited recently, and things are a little different. Paper/plastic over a mug was automatic. That kinda makes one feel like they're expected to leave and not sit down. I don't like that. Also, I pass by here often and sense a vibe so beige. Everything, everyone all feels so beige, loud yet muted; it's strange, like if Martha Stewart were a hipster coffee shop? I don't know, but a lot of people like it. I recommend giving it a visit even though it's not for me.

Favorite coffee spot. I’ve tried a lot of Portland classic spots and this always wins for me! The owners are such sweethearts & the coffee is consistent. They put a lot of thought and love into seasonal flavors and you can tell. I love this business.

coffee was not up to par and the employees left an even worse taste in my mouth. pastries were fresh, but that’s about it.

Have to update my review again, I haven't been back for working purposes but I have been back countless times for their AMAZING HOMEMADE SEASONAL SPECIALS!! 🤤

The space is pretty and clean and the staff was super sweet. However, this is not a place to work and maybe that is their intention. The tables were so small I couldn’t fit a laptop on it and the outlets seemed blocked. The wifi was so bad I had to leave so my meeting didn’t keep cutting out. The drink I ordered had great flavor and I would come back at a time I wasn’t hoping to work.

Great to hear, thanks for the response.

Coffee is always flavorful! It’s not a knock on them but I never have reception in this shop. However, they do have WiFi.

My husband and I came here after seeing all of the great reviews, and we are now hooked! The coffee drinks (we had) were so delicious and the barista helping us/making our drinks was so kind, helpful, and did a fantastic job! We will definitely make the long drive regularly to get Hypnos coffee. It’s well worth it!

Hands down the best coffee I've had in Portland! Trust me I've had a LOT of coffee at different shops and this one is the best! The service, location and interior was all great and clean. Now the coffee was phenomenal! Smooth and not acidic at all. I had their seasonal banana cloud latte (aka the best latte ever). I would order 12 more. My boyfriend had the lemon meringue cloud matcha and it was divine as well. It's a hidden gem for sure, go try it!!

Really cute little coffee shop. Much needed addition to this street. It’s a little bit eerily quiet as far as the people that gather but that can be a good thing. Especially if you’re trying to read or do quiet work. Music is on point, drinks are inventive and not too sweet. Would absolutely return. I used to live in apartments on this street and wish this was here when I was so I could be here frequently!

Just updating my review a year later to say I'm unhealthily obsessed with their coffee. Truly some of the best coffee and house made flavors in Portland. The owners are so sweet and seem like genuine people. Everything they make is delicious and their pastries are awesome!

This a positive review...

...but this place, the physical thing, has no personality. It is like walking into a Target mock up. Corporate cheugy art gallery for gay guys. Disceranbly not facist but it is straddling the fine line. The lack of stuff in the room makes the space acoustically difficult to be in. Everything that's attached to the walls and on a shelf is too small.

All that doesn't even matter anyway because the staff, food, and drinks are all amazing. Everyone working there that I've met has been incredibly chill. I've really liked all the little bake goods they've had. The cheese stick thing has been my favorite. Idk if they actually make 'em but they have 'em and I bought 'em. All the signature drinks I've tried have been delightful. There has been alot of effort put into all the things you consume and the quality of those products shows. Doesn't hurt that most everything is reasonably priced.

The bathroom is nice. It has a big sink and is clean. Needs more stickers and graffiti.
