The food is good. The interiors are also good. The service is terrible. It felt like they only want to serve white Americans. did not bother asking us how the food was, whether we need to order more, or Even getting the orders right. They only came back for the check, but with others were frequently checking in. It’s not too uncommon at Indian places to not care about Indian customers, but this place was in a league of its own.

My wife and I just got to Portland today and came upon this Iittle Indian restaurant. The ambience is excellent! The food tastes really authentic. And the staff, especially Johnny, is super-friendly, attentive & accommodating. We’re here all week, so definitely coming back!! Highly recommended!

I have been coming here since 1993. This is still my favorite Indian food in all of Portland. The service is outstanding! Kumar is a wonderful host. We got the chicken and lamb Thalis. They did not disappoint. This is a meal you take your time for. Savor it. Get a bottle of wine and have some great conversation. You won’t regret it! The price is very reasonable for all that you get. Don’t skip the Indian hot tea at the end with your dessert. You won’t need to eat again for days.

I think that India House is the BEST Indian cuisine in all of Portland! The food is very authentic and delicious, our waiter “Kumar” was warm and attentive, and the food choices are varied for every personal taste and appetite. I HIGHLY recommend this amazing restaurant!!! 😊🙏🙏

The owner was very nice and very helpful with my lactose intolerance. Guided me through the menu so I could order things without dairy and made sure the chefs didn’t use butter for my food. I truly appreciated it. The food was really good.

The rumble of the max (light rail) trains passing by this downtown corner was whimsical. I sat facing the large windows watching cyclist, shoppers and buses scurry by. $10 for a lunch platter (add$4 for lamb) is amazing. India House checked all the boxes for me today. Super easy street parking, quiet atmosphere, authentic taste. I’m surprised there weren’t more people enjoying this place on Saturday afternoon.
