Super cute little breakfast place! Went around 9:30 and it wasn't too busy. The servers were all really nice and seemed very genuine. I got the biscuits and gravy with a side of scrambled eggs, potatoes, and a fresh squeezed grapefruit juice. The gravy was creamy and the biscuits were buttery and not too dense. The eggs were cooked to perfection and the home fries were the perfect combination of crispy and soft. But the best part of this whole breakfast was the freshly squeezed grapefruit juice. It was amazing! Very pulpy and not bitter at all! It was the best grapefruit juice I've ever had that's for sure! 10/10 would recommend!
Great food & relaxed atmosphere. I love picking out a mug & self serve coffee. The space is unique with tall ceilings, lots of light, large space for tables with an exposed brick wall & old timey counter space. I’ve been coming to J&M’s for decades and it always comes through with great food & enjoyable charm.
Many GF options. Thick bacon
Quality food as always.
Food was smack great service will be back
I typically don’t leave reviews but was so impressed by J&M cafe. The comfortable atmosphere of the seating area, warm service as soon as we entered, and delicious food made this a perfect experience. We will be visiting from Colorado just to come here next time!
Such a cute, Portland Perfect, experience. Think NY diner with Northeast freshness and a down-home delicious selection of amazing food and teas. From the mish mash of souvenir coffee cups, to the oversized metal spoons serving as bathroom keys, you'll find a relaxed environment that feels honey and clean. The freshly brewed peppermint tea was heavenly, served in a personal teapot, with a warmed tea mug. My friend had the Chai Latte and raved about it. Order ANYTHING with toast. I could have eaten an entire loaf of the simultaneously soft and crispy buttered sourdough. The pace of service is leisurely but we were in and out within an hour during a busy morning.
This spot never disappoints. Classics on the menu and there’s always a good special option. The mug tree is one of my favorite features.
Amazing little place! Food was fresh, service was friendly, quick, and attentive.
The atmosphere was very pleasant and chill. I had the Chorizo scramble which was excellent! I highly recommend this place to anyone that’s looking for a great breakfast!
Truly love this place

Getting to pick your own coffee mug is pretty cool
Great Portland breakfast
Delicious food and nice portions! It has a great environment too.
Always a great meal!
We were seated with no wait. Got our menus and then were ignored by the waiters for 10-15 minutes. We watched other tables come in, wait to get seated, get menus, and order food, all while we waited for someone to take our order. The waiter made eye contact with us multiple times and told us they would be over soon. We finally got up to leave because we had plans afterwards, and then the waiter said they were coming to us in just a moment. We left.
