Real Jamaican j*** here, drove all the way from Seattle and was very impressed with everything. The man was very kind and helped us out since it was our first time. Overall good vibes!

DELICIOUS and WELCOMING! We went in the summertime, and there was plenty of outdoor seating available, where you could enjoy the delicious food and also smell the smoky fresh grilled J*** Chicken while you were waiting, and eating, the food and eating. The owner and chef was extremely friendly and welcoming. When we asked for recommendations, he gave a really thorough walkthrough of popular items, and was pretty spot on in regards to spiciness level of the foods. We got a J*** Chicken plate (a must!), and per the owner's recommendation, a Curry Chicken plate and a Patty. The Patty was well seasoned, and was probably the "spiciest" thing on the menu. The breading had a slight crunchy/chewy texture, and kept the meat inside very very hot. Be careful to not take too big of a bite, you might burn yourself! The J*** Chicken and Curry Chicken plates were also phenomenal. Bursting with flavor, and just overall a great home-cooked meal. I will definitely be going back!

I've been here a few times. Of course j*** chicken is amazing but I recommend the oxtail. I would post a pic but I ate it!

1st Time J*** Chicken Lover!!I thought I didn't like j*** chicken until I had it at Jamaica House in Portland!!!I'd eaten it twice, elsewhere, before and found it unpleasant, to put it politely-- all heat and sweet. And that's what I told the owner Simba (owner and chef) as I prepared to order always safe curry chicken. Simba considered that a personal challenge.I love the j*** chicken at Jamaica House! A deliciously seasoned dry rubbed chicken cooked to perfection served with generous servings of veg in coconut milk, plantains and rice and peas. But for me the chicken stole the show and the serving was so generous most of plate is going to be lunch tomorrow. Thank you Simba, I don't know what I ate before.

Absolutely DELICIOUS! The food was well seasoned and the service was excellent. We went in on a sunny, but cold fall day and were greeted by the owner who was watching the smoker in the outside dining area in front of the restaurant. We were warmly ushered into the restaurant to order our food. The young man who took our order was kind and attentive. We ended up getting the Jamaican J*** Chicken, Curry Chicken, and a small Beef Patty. The food was delicious! My mouth is watering just thinking about it... Both chicken dishes were fall-off-the-bone tender and so well seasoned. The Jamaican J*** Chicken was my favorite: smoked to perfection! The beef patty was slightly spicer but the meat was still tender and the pastry was flaky. All in all would 100% recommend this small business!!!

Some of the best food in Portland. I can’t believe I just ate here for the first time. My dog and I loved it!

Pretty terrible food, I've had oxtail many times before. This was tough, flavor was super off and the ligaments were still outside the tail, clearly no care when making this dish. Was served white bread over coco bread I love supporting poc businesses but this was just a terrible experience.

Only got a beef patty, they were out of chicken. It tasted a lot like a golden crust frozen patty, which are okay. I've never had coco bread before, I would've assumed it was just some super fluffy wonder bread. Was bummed out by all the dust and cobwebs, and my water in a plastic cup had an oily film on top.

Now that's how you make some j*** chicken! So good, I'm almost at a loss for words. Just go visit this gentleman in St. John's. You won't be disappointed.

I wouldn’t know—I wasn’t able to order. Google said they were open for business, so a friend and I drove to Portland to check it out. We could smell the bbq as we exited my vehicle—I could already taste the food in my mouth. Unfortunately, after calling and knocking on the door…no one came out to help us. We were disappointed but there was plenty of options near-by.Would love to try this place, and give an honest review, but, for now I’ll keep my 1 star review.
