My friend Amy owns this sweet little spot, and I absolutely love it here. The waffle with eggs and bacon is always delicious, and their Mexican mocha is my favorite, warm, rich, and perfectly spiced. Such a cozy and welcoming place to start the day. Highly recommend!

I bought a hibiscus ginger lemonade I was very excited the people were nice I was paid up every thing was good until I watched her through the visible space of the fridge and fridge door keep in mind she was just fixing her behind her ears and wiping her hands on her clothes proceeded to grab ice from the freezer with her dirty ungloved unwashed hands so I just through in the trash not everyone should be serving food to the public I don’t recommend this place at all I didn’t need to try the food if you cut corners on food safety I don’t want it in my body

This place was phenomenal, I came to the food pod on 5tt Ave, and I wanted to try out. You know, variety of things, and then I came across Java Rising Calf. I got their spice apple and OMG, you guys, if you haven't yet, this place is a must try.
Stop their waffles. Which is the base for all their dishes? Was cook to perfection, crispy, golden, and the outside soft, warm, and inside. You mix that up with the spiced. Apple's, the whipped cream, and they have something on top of that whipped crime. I should have asked what it was, but the combination of all those items together just, it was an orgy in my mouth... I forgot I had other foods, I licked the plate, guys.
I dare. to even say I was disappointed at every other food car I tried. I got a lot of food. I came there with a mission, and only one place satisfied my expectations, what I was looking for, right. I pretty much tried about 6 food courts and none of them war satisfactory in both flavor execution, and even though I had it in a togo container. Their Plating, I mean, the way the Sun hit it just right, It was like the holy growl... .it looked like a holograph pier gold, and it's all glory.
Thank you, guys, for being open that day. It was quite the experience, and I can't wait to come back once a week and try the rest of the menu🤩😁🤩😁🤩😁🫰

Best coffee and Waffles EVER! Had a lovely chat with the owner. This place truly brings warmth and light to Portland’s downtown!
Edit: I was going to delete this because I felt bad about dinging such a small business, but instead I'm amending my review after reading the owner's thoughtful and non-defensive reply. I wrote the initial review right after the incident so I was very annoyed. I'm just keeping this up as a testament to good will. I have been here since and the bagels and coffee were very tasty. Thank you for your efforts and I hope your food truck succeeds.
So I've visited this place 5 times, but only got food there twice. The three other times I showed up shortly after their opening time, but no one was there. The bagel and drink were pretty good, but it seems they don't take their business very seriously since they can't be bothered to open when they say they will be. It's frustrating that I have to write off a breakfast place close to my work due to this unreliability.
