great place
First time ever having this kind of food and it was phenomenal. The service is top notch. The drinks were amazing. Everything was so well prepared! I highly recommend coming with a group to share everything. It was such a great experience. Will definitely be back.

We had friends visiting from out of town and chose Kachka for dinner. It had been several years since my last visit, and it was the perfect place for what we wanted — a relaxed evening where we could focus on catching up rather than spending a lot of time deciding what to order.
Our server was fantastic: helpful, decisive, and took great care of us throughout the evening. They guided us through the menu and made ordering easy so we could just enjoy the conversation, share dishes, and spend time together.
The food was absolutely incredible, and we also appreciated the thoughtful non-alcoholic drink options — they were creative and genuinely tasty, not an afterthought.
Overall it was a wonderful experience. Great food, great service, and a perfect setting to enjoy time with friends. We’ll definitely be coming back.

First time at Kachka's. Great service. Smart warning from the server to put in the entire order at one time to assist the kitchen in expediting the order in total, rather than piecemeal. Beets, sprat, herring, potatoes, eggs, chicory and a host of other otherwise common ingredients are made into delicious zakuski, both hot and cold. My only previous comparison was tapas: small bites of delicious flavors. Certainly one of my favorite ways to experience food. The charcuterie board was outstanding.

Loved our meal at Kachka!
The cod liver buterbrodi was rich, silky, and perfectly balanced. The Siberian pelmeni were such a nice surprise, and the grilled mackerel was perfectly juicy.
Everything was flavorful and comforting — would definitely come back!

Definitely a go to place in portland over the years. Been here five or six times over five years and have been slightly more and more disappointed. Recently had a bad food experience. Bland dumplings for dumpling week. More like tostino pizza rolls. Cherry dumplings were undercooked but still very tasty. The cabbage rolls were good but lukewarm. Had some mozzarella sticks that were average but had a good dipping sauce. Mushroom entree dish was awful, lacked any amount of salt. Service was still pretty good, only notable person was the food runner. Server, hostess and bartender were going through the motions. And with a 22% service fee I expect more, I guess when you don't have to earn it you don't need to actually be personable and informative especially with a fairly foreign menu. I shouldn't have to use Google, that's what server training is for. Spent $280 for a table of 4.

The food is consistently good, but the service was unacceptable. The woman wearing glasses at the entrance showed clear hostility and had a very poor attitude. I asked about the wait time, and she responded harshly and rudely. Extremely unprofessional. This level of front-of-house service is far below the standard of the restaurant.

Had the best dinning experience on Valentines day, the food was amazing, innovative, flavorful, the wait staff was amazing, super friendly and knowledgeable, the atmosphere was comfortable the locale was easy to get to and appreciated the free garage parking right next door. My new favorite spot, we will be back!

Honestly our favorite restaurant in Portland! The food is excellent: super fun, creative, and most importantly delicious. The service is extremely attentive, while the vibe is casual, the level of service feels high end. We ate about half the menu, and loved all of it!

Hear me out! Great service, ladies knew the menu and were quick. That’s the only good part about that place. Food kinda sucked. Overpriced is one thing, but cheese dumplings were fishy, chicken dish was plain and looked the same way, the vegan dish (not sure what it was) was returned to kitchen as well. Tips were mandatory to any party size, but servers getting paid only 25$ on hour… hmmmm. No thanks!

Enjoyed my second visit to Kachka. The menu is vast and varied. I plan to come back often to experience everything! Wonderful food, drink, service and ambience. Last time I had cold fish appetizers and dumplings. This time, cabbage roll, soup, pickled vegetables, chickory salad and more dumplings. You can't go wrong. If vodka is your thing, the infused options are impressive and delicious.
The food here is amazing, the Moscow mule was the best one I've ever had, and the infused vodkas are alone worth a visit. The earl grey and the sour cherry ones were great 👌🏻 this place is five hammer and sickles out of five!
