Overall Thoughts: The 5 star reviews don’t lie; this spot is seriously incredible. The stuffed batbot sandwich was among the best sandwiches I’ve ever had and the iced Moroccan mint tea was a fantastic pairing. This is a spot that makes me upset that I don’t live in/closer to Portland. It’s counter service, and the staff/owner are super friendly and the food comes out quickly. The prices are very reasonable given the quality and portions. There isn’t a ton of seating inside, but it was pretty much empty when I went in for lunch on a Thursday. The interior is decorated nicely and patriotically, with beautiful tiles and flags adorning the walls.Food I tried:- Stuffed Batbot Sandwich with Yellow Split Pea Soup (5/5): This is no doubt among the best sandwiches I’ve ever eaten. The bread is wonderful, springey and spongey. The kefta patty is delicious-- juicy with robust flavors and without even a tinge of dryness. I loved the warm, lightly runny egg and cheese paired with the cold, crispy veggies. The soup was also hearty and creamy with delicious hints of smokey paprika. You can really taste the olive oil layer on top which added a rich, earthy flavor to it. It’s large and filling, and more than worth the money.- Iced Moroccan Mint Tea (4.8/5): So refreshing and tasty! It was sweeter than expected, but delicious with hints of minty flavor. It was the perfect, light palette cleanser between bites of my savory, rich sandwich and soup.—Price (relative to peers): 4.6/5Food: 4.9/5Ambience: 4.9/5Overall Value: 4.9/5

I have to add to what others have said here - the food is incredibly tasty and well-made, and the portions are huge. I couldn't believe what a large beautiful salad I got for $4. The charming owner let me read his book of photos of Morocco for travel inspo. Do come along and support this small business.

I had such a lovely Chicken Tagine at the Kasbah Moroccan Cafe today. The owner/chef was personable and the restaurant was clean with a nice atmosphere. The mint tea was wonderful, too, and I loved the whimsical tea-cozy felt. I'll definitely come back next time I'm visiting Portland!

The tagine here is to die for! I’m partial to the merguez tagine, a flavorful & tender Moroccan sausage. Tagines feature your choice of protein over your choice of rice or couscous topped with a complex, bright tomato sauce which packs just the right amount of heat & two perfectly runny sunny side up eggs. Portions are generous & an awesome bang for your buck in a city of expensive food options. Owner is also friendly & cafe has a cozy humble vibe.

Absolutely delicious food in a beautiful, cozy environment! I wish I had more time to sit and enjoy the atmosphere. As others have mentioned, the portions are generous and you will leave happy and very full! I had the 7-vegetable couscous and the mint tea and I will absolutely order it again! The tea comes pre-sweetened and tastes great paired with some of the sweets/cookies sold at the counter!

This place is an incredible cultural gem. I wish I lived in Portland so I could come here all the time! Unbelievable food, great atmosphere, and the owner is so kind and hardworking. Don’t miss it if you’re in town. I can highly recommend the Makouda sandwich and split pea soup.

I rarely write reviews but this place was an absolute gem. The portions were extremely generous, we had trouble finishing everything with 3 people but it was so delicious that somehow we did. The price is very reasonable and the owner is super nice and friendly. I also highly recommend the Morrican mint tea!!!!
