I love this place… my partner and I stumbled upon it and we are so impressed. We got almost everything we needed on our (long) weekly grocery list. The GM has a heart of gold - spoke with us for several minutes and had such an amazing energy about him. We will be returning and would LOVE to support in anyway we can. We would love to see some live music, events, art walks, anything to further support our community and neighborhood. Thank you so much, Know Thy Food!
This is a wonderful neighborhood coop -- I believe very strongly in supporting small, local farmers and humanely raised animal products. It is a drop point for raw milk, meat and eggs, which in my humble opinion are of top-notch quality. The store is very small, and the selection is limited, but I actually enjoy that; the quiet atmosphere and home-y vibe is good for de-stressing from a busy day -- it is actually very fun to shop here, and I usually hate grocery shopping. Know Thy Food is amazing considering Brooklyn could almost be considered a food desert. They regularly stock reasonably priced local beef, pork, and chicken. Produce is limited to the basics, but still pretty good prices. Milk, cheese, and eggs all good quality and decently priced. If you become a member you can order weekly on the website and the employees will box up your order for pickup on Wednesday. This also unlocks rarer cuts of meat from their local purveyors.
