Honestly it was pretty great. The frito pie is an overlooked gem. Im from rural Georgia and even though its Kansas City style, it brought me back home for a little bit. Ordered to go, and everything was packed with care. Portion sizes for the price are very reasonable. Smoked turkey sandwich with candied pecans sounded strange from the description, but it worked so well together that I am no longer a skeptic. Will definitely be by again.

The Mac and cheese is not good. Actually no one likes it and I wish they would change the recipe already. Besides that this is my 2nd time eating from here. Burnt ends are fire. 10/10. Bbq beans are delicious. Frito pie is a much better choice than the Mac and cheese for a side. The banana pudding is okay… personally they are doing the most with the recipe and not in a good way. Overall solid bbq spot.

Craving BBQ in Portland and decided to give this place a try. The restaurant was very clean. Ordered the Lawless platter to share ($53) and chose bbq beans and potato salad as our sides. Visually the food looked pretty good but half of the meat (the brisket and the turkey) unfortunately came out cold, room temperature at best. We let the cashier/server know and asked if it could maybe just be warmed up and they looked less than thrilled by the request, didn’t bother to apologize and told us “I guess if you want to put it on that plate we can warm it up” Based on other reviews, food being delivered at the proper temperature seems to be an issue, and for the amount you’re paying the food being hot should be the absolute bare minimum. Brisket and ribs were extremely fatty, the potato salad tasted more like egg salad (but everyone has their preference I suppose) and turkey left much to be desired. Unfortunately we left more food on the plate than we ate, really missed the mark.

Saw a post on Instagram and decided to check out Lawless BBQ. It was early on Saturday morning after walking the Springwater Corridor Trail, so I worked up a bit of an appetite. Only one table was occupied when I arrived and one to-go order ahead of me. The person taking my order was very friendly, but limited in his ability to answer some of my questions as if he just started working there. Unfortunately, they were out of ribs so I wasn't able to try them. I ordered the burnt ends, brisket and 1 sausage, along with the chili side and barbecued baked beans. Over all the food was just mid in my opinion. When a restaurant serves brisket, its probably going to have the most influence on my whole dining experience. In this case the brisket slices were thick, fairy tender and moist. However, that tell-tale bark was missing and so was some of the flavor. It had a sort of indoor gas grill taint to it which I didnt care for. In my opinion the Chili stole the show. The flavor was outstanding and it had chunks of the tender brisket in it which kicked it up a notch. The burnt ends were my second favorite dish. They were tender and the sauce was a perfect compliment. The sausage has a spicy kick that sneaks up in just the right way. I wasn't too impressed with bbq baked beans but they weren't bad either.

It wasn't a bad experience, but ao doubt that I would repeat on my own.

This place was AMAZING! I have been wanting to find a BBQ place nearby that was accessable by the MAX/Streetcar and this was the BEST. The hostess up front was super friendly and the place was nice and clean. I showed up for happy hour and got a lot of food for only $13! The ribs were everything I could have dreamed of and the mac and cheese was delious. I will definitely come back.
