I’m giving Lechon one star because I had reservations for my boyfriends birthday but they closed the restaurant for the night. They did not call people with reservations to inform, so we dropped my kid with a babysitter, paid for parking and then saw the sign on the front door. I also called many times to discuss how they could make it right and never got a call back. Yikes!

Food is interesting and delicious. Service kind, sort of slow. Atmosphere is comfortable and fun.

Foods are mediocre compared to the price you pay. Service is great. Table is a bit small for 2 to sit when most 2 persons definitely order lot of plates.
Still go back for sure!

Food is great
Portions are small
Very expensive (we spent about $40 p/p without alcohol)
Staff very friendly
Lighting and aesthetics are nice
Very loud
Small space, crammed
We sat at a high table near the kitchen, chairs were uncomfortable
Music too loud
Difficult to have a conversation
Menu hard to understand
Parking was about $20

Parking: If you are cheap.. meters end at 7. But it may be challenging to find a street spot.

It’s a trap. Food looks great, location’s vibe on the hip side, but flavor was same as average food truck… and you’ll smell like deep fried parmesan bread after you leave.

We had the ceviche with over-powering mango, supposedly crispy pork bao but it was just brick hard (had some flavor tho!), and Peruvian chicken that was dripping with mayo-infused hot honey flavoring (probably best dish of the three)

Our waiter was a great guy and food came pretty quick.

It was kinda bad… be honest. I ordered shrimp salad, mushroom, the smoked bone marrow, and the octopus. They are fine, just the smoked bone marrow was horrible, I don’t see any meat at the bone, like non… so what’s the point of it? And then just a pancake something with a sauce, it’s kinda bad… the mushroom was the good the egg with the toasted bread.

Lechon is one of the most popular restaurants in the city. However, overall, I wasn't very satisfied 🥺. We ordered the ribeye, smoked duck breast, and roasted bone marrow.

The cocktail was recommended by the waiter and had a very peculiar flavor that I had never tasted before. It was good, but honestly, I can't describe the taste 🤔. The ribeye steak was excellent and worth its price ($69), with a taste that was truly impressive 🤤. I was also very satisfied with the roasted bone marrow; it was cooked perfectly and seasoned well without being too salty, making it rich and delicious. The sauce complemented it well by enhancing the flavor and cutting through the richness! However, I didn't quite like the bread that came with it. It was thick and sticky, which made me feel overwhelmed. If it had been served with toasted bread slices instead, this dish would have been perfect for me. Lastly, the smoked duck breast was a bit dry; perhaps it's hard to avoid dryness with duck or chicken breast dishes... The seasoning was also too salty. However, the duck skin was fatty, crispy, and fragrant, and the smoking was done well... The accompanying fried rice was pretty good 👍🏼.

Additionally, the service wasn't great. The waiter checked on us shortly after serving the dishes but then left us alone. Empty plates sat on our table for a long time, taking up space without anyone coming to clear them, so we ended up stacking them ourselves. We waited quite a while before someone (not our waiter) finally came to clear them. In such circumstances, there's no way I'd leave a 15% tip ╮( ̄▽ ̄"")╭.

Oh, and the restaurant charges an additional 3% for health and wellness, meaning that costs originally meant for employers to cover employee insurance are passed on to customers. So I deducted this fee from the tip I originally planned to give. Sorry, I'm not that generous.

I received 2 empanadas that were around 2.5 inches wide for $11, plus the automatic 20% tip and 3% Health and Wellness fee. So that's almost $14 for 2 puny empanadas. They should at least include 3 of them. The waiter was visibly annoyed 3-4 times since we were trying to figure out what to order and he did not hear that a couple of us wanted dessert. The restaurant was not super busy and no one was waiting on our table of 6. The Ahi Tuna Ceviche was very good.

Fantastic food and service for our anniversary! We had the chef’s menu with multiple courses and wine pairing. Every course was delicious. Highly recommend this wonderful restaurant! Hunter, our server and bartender, made the evening really special with a prosecco for our anniversary.

Vegetarian options: They are all so good! I didn’t see a whole lot of vegan, but plenty of vegetarian, even an entirely separate menu to accommodate.

Very good restaurant in Portland for Southern American cuisine, food price is reasonable and everything tasted delicious, will definitely come again. P.S I really enjoy their Asado,
