I'm reluctant to post a review because I like Lokanta so much, I'd like to keep it to myself. But, the owner/chef has done such a brilliant job of it, that his success is more important than my greed. The food is authentic, fresh, and oh so tasty. We have visited twice with another couple (who have been to Turkey many times) and we are so impressed with the quality of the menu, with the friendly service, and the pleasant atmosphere. The place is small, but light and airy, not fancy, but what you might expect from a neighborhood cafe in a small to medium sized town in Turkey. Casual and comfortable. I have had both meat and vegetarian dishes and both were delicious and satisfying.
Parking: There are a lot of retailers in this neighborhood and parking can be tricky, but we go early (between 5 and 6 pm) and haven't had to park more than 2 blocks away.

The food here is absolutely phenomenal! Wow. We had a party of four and were able to try a host of small and larger dishes and everything we had was beyond delicious. The wine and Salgam were great, as were the desserts. Fantastic service, too. Absolutely loved it and can’t wait to come back!

We wanted to try something new, so Lokanta was where we ended up. The ambiance is darling and the food is fantastic. We ordered a bunch of different plates and shared everything. The owners are so friendly and provide amazing service. We will definitely be back!

Wonderful place to have authentic Turkish food you won't find anywhere else. This is not a kebab place (though I do love kebabs!), it's a meyhane, focued on exquisite, lighter fare in a casual setting where you can have a drink, take your time, and unwind. Highly recommended if you appreciate fine cuisine and friendly service.

Delicious food and good service. We had outdoor seating near the closing time and during the lows of the pandemic (~Aug 2021) so not a typical experience of what is probably normal here, so YMMV. Despite such a situation, our server was attentive, food was tasty, and the overall vibe was quite relaxed.I would recommend this place and looking forward to being here the next time.

I went to Lokanta for the first time tonight and was blown away! I’m Turkish and my family was visiting in town so we thought to try it out. First, I love that it’s a seasonal Turkish spot with a rotating menu. Next, the flavors were incredible and I can’t wait to go back again soon to try other dishes! All the starters and sides are perfect to share and the flavor was 12/10. The mains are generously portioned and honestly I could not recommend this place more. The owner, Umut, is a sweet and generous man that has clearly brought his vision of a Turkish meyhane to life in Portland. If you’re new to Turkish food give Lokanta a try, you won’t be disappointed! Thank you for a creating a great atmosphere and delicious food, Umut!

This is definitely one of my new favourite spots in the neighbourhood. The food is very unique, delicious and fresh. All the flavours come together beautifully. The service was great, too! The waitress was very attentive and the chef connected with us personally after our meal. I hope more people will take advantage of this amazing little place and can only highly recommend it :)

Lokanta is an extremely unique restaurant. They serve authentic Turkish food in a small plate restaurant. We were very unfamiliar with the type of food but the restaurant owner and chef made sure to connect with all guests and make them feel comfortable. The atmosphere is friendly, relaxed and trendy. The food is delicious and interesting. I would highly recommend giving it a try!
The food at Lokanta is AMAZING. Having not tried Turkish cuisine before I didn't know what to expect, but was very pleasantly surprised. The staff was helpful and friendly, and the chef/owner came out to chat and see how everything was.I had the Ali Nazik and it was delicious. We had several chicken skewers, as well as some appetizers and deserts. Everything was absolutely delicious.

We visited Lokanta for my birthday dinner last night after some other activity and were warmly seated and told not to rush despite arriving only 20 mins or so before closing. I love so much about this neighborhood, but Lokanta is now up on the top of my list and is my new favorite restaurant in Portland. It's the type of cuisine that inspires you. The yogurtlu patlican was downright addicting, and the pide was so buttery and comforting. The chef even let us sample some of the cig kofte and it was like nothing I've eaten before. The food is super unique, taken from distinct cities in Turkey and surrounding countries, so the menu really feels like a food tour. And the menu rotates so the tour never ends. The service was really fantastic; I felt taken care of like coming home.

Lokanta is a treat for the discerning diner who enjoys quality Turkish food. Chef Umut is a rare breed who is loyal to his love of Turkish cuisine. I believe Portland is extremely lucky to have genuine Turkish cooking with Chef Umut. I found the seasoning and spices just right to highlight the flavors of each dish. Lokanta excels at bringing you dishes from Turkey by a Turkish Chef. Pricing is very reasonable for the quality and quantity.
