I returned to Comala and Wow! What a pleasant surprise.
Stopped in just to take a little edge off hunger, not a full meal. I ordered a “quesadilla” and a Pacifico. It looked and tasted nothing like any quesadilla I ever had. It had a thick delicious sauce smothering whatever was underneath the sauce. I could not tell you what the sauce was because I’ve never enjoyed anything like it.
The server told me that three things between the tortilla (or crepe or whatever) and the sauce were squash.
Texture and deliciousness off the charts. If someone had just served this to me, I would never have called it a quesadilla, just “Damn good.”
Comala is a hidden gem, one of those where you don't want to tell people to keep it your own. On the other hand, the people there are so nice, you want to support them.
Great atmosphere, excellent food and cocktails.

We went there a a small group with the intention of tasting several different tequilas. We were treated so well! The red carpet was rolled out and we had a great time and learned so much from our server. I highly recommend Comala. Food was also unique and delicious.

We didn't have food, just drinks. We had one drink then went to the Matador on 23rd. We were so confused. We were going to have dinner nextdoor at De Noche, but they moved to 10th st. Its now called Lilias. To keep this short and sweet, it's not the hype I was reading about. Honestly, it was a huge disappointment. Im sure others will disagree . You Do You!

Wonderful little spot in NW. Neighboring and connected to De Noche all the food and bites are incredibly high quality and hand made tortillas !! The selection of Mezcal and Mexican Spirits is wonderful ! All the cocktails I’ve had there have been very complex and unique. Dan is a great Mixologist. Open late on Friday and Saturday - Great little spot to check out.

WOW! How lucky Portland is to have such an expert in beautiful mezcals located in a beautiful atmosphere. The cocktails are delicious. I loved the sweet vs. bitter vs. refreshing chart they had to guide your selections—I wish more places used something similar. Our party also had a curated mezcal flight, complete with introductions of each one. Truly wonderful service. Thank you Cómala!

A bar resembling a hip mezcaleria you might walk into in Oaxaca City, completed with food prepared by the fine dining restaurant next door. If you're in the area I highly recommend you stop in, especially if you enjoy agave distillates and mezcal cocktails.

We ordered two disappointing cocktails. The first, which I believe, was the El Virrey. Flavors were not unified. The second, blanking on the name but started with “pan de —“, similarly fell short. When egg whites are used, it’s usually for adding either a rich, silky texture or reducing an intense flavor. This cocktail did neither. The crushed ice filling up the tall glasses didn’t help in terms of 1) stirring to further mix the drink 2) leaving room to enjoy the egg white foam. Excellent service and food looked tasty. Might give it another shot if I’m back in town.

I had a wonderful time here. I showed up too late for dinner next door so stopped here for a drink to figure out next steps. Our drinks were exquisite. Service was awesome. Bar was chill and had a good vibe. I will definitely return when in the city

Cozy little bar with a nice mezcal cocktail selection. We had two cocktails that were on the boozy side if you look at the cocktail diagram but they tasted like pure alcohol. Kinda disappointed with the actual cocktails but the ambiance made up for it.

I have eaten at De Noche and its neighboring Bar Cómala on multiple occasions. The service and food are always top-notch. But in January, they outdid themselves! We rented out Bar Cómala For my husband’s 50th birthday with around 35 people attending. Olivia helped coordinate everything from the welcome cocktail as people arrived to all the food that was passed around during the evening. We had friends attending from New York and Texas and California and people could not stop raving about the service, the quality of the food, and the space!!!!

The drinks and bartenders are great. Often times they have older black and white movies playing in the background. Not to mention their bar food is made from the kitchen with some ingredients from Denoche next door. They occasionally have pop ups and mix it up with different events. Highly reccomend them for a date night or even with friends.

Food and drinks were great. Service was slow. Neighborhood had several pan handler's looking for handouts.
