It's a pub with cheap drinks, chill bartenders, free popcorn, and even karaoke on a Wednesday night. Open late too

Gyros, baby! Maybe not the best in PDX, but still a warm, toothy wrap of satisfying goodness. I always go with the chicken version, with nice tender chunks of bird smothered in a pseudo “Greek” tzatziki sauce. Not the biggest, but it’s reasonably priced and it’s just always so tasty. Pair it with a crisp Pilsner from the fairly deep tap list, and you’re good to go.

Just so ya know, Marathon is a full-on sports bar, with the bar up front, TVs pinned almost everywhere and some pool tables and other games out in the back room, downstairs. Order at the bar and the food will find you somehow. Lighting is dim, and there are no (or few) windows but it’s still all somehow cheery and welcoming, with warm wood tones and a laid back vibe. Lots of video poker games up front too, but hey — there’s free popcorn!

A slice of old Portland I’m glad is still here, especially on those cold rainy nights.

PS, the bathroom is pretty trashy. Of course.

Great dive bar atmosphere perfect for a Timbers-Thorns pre-game. The gyro sandwich was surprisingly good.

Loved spending an afternoon here! Great bartender, pool tables, and a REALLY good gyro for $7- miles better than I'd had at an actual Mediterranean restaurant a few days earlier.

Awesome spot to catch a game. They have a ton of TVs, so you won't miss a second of the action. Plus, their gyros are absolutely delicious. The place has ample seating, making it perfect for hanging out with friends and family. And to top it all off, there's a full bar with a great selection of drinks. Definitely a place I'll be returning to soon.
