A tasty and unique departure from the standard breakfast/brunch fare offered elsewhere. Very nice flavors and generous portions. Excellent service. Being GF a big plus. Good coffee. Overall, a very nice experience and will definitely be returning.

Finally visited after learning about this place a while ago and my only sadness and regret is not going sooner. Decor was bright, welcoming, colorful, music was random but fit the mood for a Sunday brunch, server was so kind and engaging, coffee endless, lighting on point, will be coming back for sure. Chaat hash with bacon 10000% win.

I have a lot of food allergies but always feel so safe at Masala Lab! The staff is always super helpful and willing to let me read an ingredient list. They also just have some of my favorite brunch in Portland.

Dietary restrictions: Gluten free, soy free, dairy free available is not standard on menu

WHOA! The food was as expected. EXCELLENT! But this review is to highlight our bright shining star of a server Kali. As a group of industry friends we stopped into brunch before work and were greeted and taken care of with a smile and dazzle that is so specific to them and special to us!! They broke out a patio table just for our group so we could sit with the dog, pointed out the dishes you are best known for and every interaction left a smile on our faces. Kali really sets the standard for the type of service I want to receive. THANK YOU! We will be back. Not everyone can spread sparkles and sunshine like you do!!

An absolute delight! We had the saagshuka and shrimp and grits. Both were full of flavor and spice! And our server was the sweetest! Really made our visit extra special with his good vibes and attentiveness.

Best chicken and waffles I’ve ever had. Very fun and inviting atmosphere. Can see and feel the care and effort the chef/owner puts into his craft, from ingredient sourcing, to flavor profile and presentation. Prices may seem high to some, but realize that you’re not expected to tip, and that ingredient quality is higher than most. The bacon lardons, braised greens, and house chai are also standouts. Looking forward to trying the shrimp and grits in the future. Thank you Chef Deepak!

Holy moly! This is *delightfully* delicious, full savory flavored, open for breakfast seven days a week, and totally gluten free. Friendly peoples too. I am wholeheartedly appreciative.
Update: second visit not as stellar food. May have more to do with ordering their lamb than the tastiness of the whole menu. Still recommend though.

I love this spot! Had my birthday here in the private space upstairs and it was so nice to have a low key get together to celebrate. I used to work for a food tour company that would go Deepak’s food cart on N Mississippi. It’s always gratifying to see a food cart owner succeed to a brick and mortar. I would recommend this unique brunch to anyone in Portland. The flavors redefine brunch and are not to be missed!
