I ordered 1 lb pork ribs, 1/2 lb of brisket, 1 original sausage and here is what I get.
Recommend: Brisket, so juicy and soft.
I do not recommend pork ribs, it's dry and overcooked, and with only 3 little slices of ribs for 1 pound?

Horrible customer service. They don’t want to talk to you. Won’t tell you when your food is ready. They rely on computers and when there system fails they just pack your food up and set it up for it to get cold while they watch you sit there and wait for your food! Ridiculous.

Was caught by surprise by Matt's. Really solid barbecue and flavorful meats. The sides were great and I was a big fan of the sauces. If you're in Oregon or Portland make sure you plan to visit Matt's for some darn good Q.

AWESOME "Q"
Vegetarian options: It's for meat lovers primarily. There were some sides without meat.
Dietary restrictions: Not where you wanna go if you have diet restrictions. It's a BBQ cart. The food is OFF THE CHARTS GOOD
Kid-friendliness: Definitely family friendly
Wheelchair accessibility: Easy wheelchair access

Maybe we came on a bad night but this was absolutely terrible. I got the pork spare ribs and they were literally tasteless and the texture of the meat was mushy and slimy. The most flavorful thing on the pulled pork sandwich was the coleslaw. The sliced brisket was almost inedible. We had to throw away all of our food ($50 worth) which felt like such a massive waste. I am so disappointed and so confused over these other reviews. How was this so bad???

their BBQ is just the best. like seriously. we did a catered event with matts BBQ and people are still talking about their brisket, ribs, and shredded pork shoulder TWO MONTHS LATER. their catering was quick, easy, on time, and came out as if they had only just cooked it. the sauces and sides were also amazing, especially the mac salad. highly recommend for any catering event!

If you’re reading this then you’ve probably read the other reviews that rave about the BBQ here. They’re right. Of all the BBQ joints I’ve eaten at, this would easily rank in the top 2-3, alongside Skylight Inn in North Carolina. The brisket was spot on - juicy without being mushy, and their sausage (always the underrated star of BBQ in a world where social media has fixated people on brisket and pulled pork) was excellent. The sauce selection was good, and order turnaround was pretty quick given the volume of people ordering. Well done Matt’s BBQ!

Over the years I have wasted a lot of money on mediocre BBQ. But hope springs eternal. Sadly, Matt's did not live up to the online buzz.
I will say that the brisket was solid. Tender. Decent crust. Mild flavor, seemed a little lacking. Pork ribs were tough, Did they not pull off the silver skin? Pulled pork was ok, but nothing special. And the turkey was down right boring. Virtually no flavor at all.
Now I know that nobody rates a BBQ place by the sauce. But the sauce selection really detracted from the experience. Matt's is supposed to be Texas style BBQ. But the sauces were decidedly NOT Texas style...maybe more of a Carolina influence? Lots of vinegar. One of my companions tried all 5 flavors and pronounced only one was acceptable.
Lastly, the whole experience was lacking in experience. I get that I'm not going to get a highly personalized experience on a Sunday at lunch. But there is zero interaction. Order at a kiosk. They call your number and there is a bag waiting for you. That's it. Choosing to model your business on the worst elements of Starbucks mobile order system is no way to build a BBQ business. Sure it's busy. Great. But even on the busiest days, Aaron Franklin works the line at his iconic business. Because BBQ is about more than smoked meat. It's about experiences.
Matt's still has a long way to be a classic Q joint.
