This is our favorite BBQ place. The team members are always super friendly. The sitting bench area feels very relaxed. The service became even more convenient when we found out Uber Eats can deliver it to our area. Our most frequent ordered dish is Pork Spare Ribs 1lb. It is so delicious. The meat is so tender and fresh. We will definitely keep coming back.

Not only Portland has the best street food, at least in North America, but also Matt’s BBQ has the best 🥩
Phenomenal BBQ quality… unimaginably succulent and delectable.
This placement a monthly recommendation if not weekly 😅

Great brisket and Mac. The BBQ sauces were good as well, especially the peach mustard one. Will definitely be back.

Great barbecue in an awesome food cart pod. Grab a beer next door. While the cart is no frills, the barbecue is fantastic.

This might just be the best food on the planet — trust me, I’m a Scotsman and we don’t say that lightly.
The brisket was so tender and perfect I’m ready for a post-meal coma. It’s not easy to impress Scots, but they pulled it off effortlessly.
edit: been here many times since. still the same

Was super excited to try out this high rated, recommended BBQ place during our stay in Portland. Sad to say it was entirely disappointing and I am questioning if the people giving this meat 5 stars have ever had good BBQ.
For starters, the meat tastes of artificial smoke flavor that make the first bites kind of gross. Once you get past that, you think okay, this gets better? NO. The “sauce” is literally water with some sort of bits of fat and more smoke flavoring. Literally could not find a way to make this edible. I have had better BBQ from chain locations like Lucille’s or even Applebees at that point.
The mac n cheese is like Kraft with pieces of peppers for added taste. Not my favorite either. It’s hard to mess up a side like this but Matt’s found a way to do it.
The beans. Oh my god, the beans. Like refried pinto beans out of a can, did not look appealing at all. Not what you would expect when you think of BBQ and beans.
To top it all off, the saddest side of white bread to try and eat some of the horrible brisket we ordered. This was literally just that, a piece of bread. Not toasted. No butter. Nothing. Just. White. Cold. Bread.
Overall, what was Guy Fieri thinking when he gave this place his approval? What is everyone giving this place 5 stars for? I regret coming to Matt’s and am glad I live out of state and never have to come back here again.

Good food, good people. Matt's saved the night for us when an ordering snafu occurred with one of the big food apps. Matty, the manager, went above and beyond to make sure my visiting family and I were fed that night. Food and service with integrity.

Finding it hard to find a competitor for Oregon BBQ. These chefs kill it. The prices are extremely reasonable for the quality of food. Been phenomenal for as many years I've been.

I’d like to start that it wasn’t bad, but I would never call this the best BBQ in Portland. I think those who award it that are just starved for real downhome BBQ. We ordered family style for 4 adults and our toddlers were supposed to split the Mac n cheese (surprise! It was gross and runny. They didn’t eat it.) ended up being like $180.00 after tip. Food came up very fast for how busy they are but it was suspiciously fast. Pulled pork sandwich came out without any sauce at all after claiming it was a NC style sandwich. Ribs were super fatty. My in-laws were visiting from out of town and enjoyed the brisket but everything else was meh.
