Delicious and well done bbq. From the ribs so the sauces truly wonderful and unique flavors. I really enjoy the various sauces they perfectly accent the meat without overpowering. The ribs are my favorite protein and the queso mac is my favorite side. Though all are well done, I cannot go without getting those two things.

We had Matt's supply food for a wedding of 45 people. Absolutely perfect experience. They estimated portions perfectly. Food arrived on time and well packaged. The person who delivered was friendly and helpful. And the food? Well, amazing. Guests were raving about the food!!

I've only had their pork belly burnt ends, but they are so delicious. I want to try their brisket burnt ends but they've been out both times I've been in, which is probably just a testament to how good they are. Good BBQ guys!

Matt’s title of the best bbq in Portland is deserved. Their meats are consistently perfect. Their sides are superbly complimentary to their mains. They do not need to lean into being “weird” or have some kind of trick to make themselves a unique culinary experience. They have mastered perfect execution of their food that will keep people coming back over and over and over again, as I have.

The brisket is nothing short of legendary. Tender, savory, perfectly smoked, and delectable whether sliced or chopped. When served on their brioche with pickles and pickled onions, it is the best sandwich in Portland. The Mac & cheese has a kick that you wouldn’t expect and melts in your mouth bite after bite. The peach-mustard sauce tickles a part of my brain that I didn’t know was there, and further complicates my existential crisis of the presence of an omnipotent deity; while I don’t think one exists, they must be a barbecue chef and they must have inspired Matt’s cuisine.

Do yourself a favor. If you’re in Portland, visit Matt’s on N. Mississippi. Your inner peace awaits you.

The food was so good! The queso dip is a must order along with brisket and pulled pork! The Mac was good but it was a lot to eat with the queso chips since it’s the same cheese . Also Cole slaw could use some salt flakes and more flavor but it wasn’t terrible .
The order was done super fast and meat wasn’t dry ! It’s in a cute area with tables and other food carts! Def worth it this plate for lunch was only 35.00 so if ya split it — you get alot of food and a decent lunch price

Matts BBQ is one of the highlights of Portland's hallmark food cart pods. We ordered the sliced brisket with queso mac n cheese, as well as the pork belly burnt ends with potato salad.
The sliced brisket was probably one of the best I've ever had, and I'm not usually one to enjoy such fatty cuts of meat. The burnt ends were great as well, and the thick barbecue sauce it came with was delicious. The sides were decent was well, but the meat was truly the star of the show.
We also appreciated the wide selection of other sauces available for free, which included cherry chipotle, peach mustard, spicy mustard, and hog vinegar.
Overall, it was a very pleasant experience and we definitely hope to come back if we get the chance.

Really excellent meat! We tried the ribs, pulled pork, and the brisket. All were excellent, but the brisket was the best. We will most definitely be back!

I first heard about this food truck through Philip Rosenthal’s recommendation on Somebody Feed Phil (Season 5, “Portland” episode). Since Phil never steers wrong with food, we made sure to stop by when we visited Portland in October 2022. The experience definitely lived up to the hype—authentic flavors, generous portions, and that special Portland food truck charm that makes the city’s dining scene so unique. It felt great to try a spot that had also been highlighted on the show.
