I donāt even know where to begin ā but yes, this is a story about 25-cent ketchup packets.
Weāre a Filipino family who traveled to Portland for Black Friday shopping, and unfortunately this McDonaldās was the closest one to our hotel. We went twice. Big mistake.
First visit: I forgot to add ketchup for our fries during curbside pickup, so I went inside and politely asked for some. The girl with glasses (red hair, fair-skinned) looked visibly hesitant about handing over three ketchup packetsā¦ even though we ordered a lot of fries. Her energy was so weird I literally walked back to the car and told my family, āI donāt think they wanted to give me ketchup š¤£.ā That shouldāve been the warning sign.
Second visit: The next morning we ordered breakfast curbside. This time I made sure to add condiments ā free at every McDonaldās since the dawn of time ā and the app literally says free, babe.
My husbandās bagel was missing, so he went inside to ask for it. Before he could even speak, the Latina female manager snapped, āYou guys took a lot of sauces ā those are actually 25 cents each.ā He froze becauseā¦ what does that have to do with the missing bagel? š¤£
He ignored the comment and explained our order was incomplete. Instead of helping, she accused him of lying and claimed she personally packed the order. Then she doubled down, saying we should be āgratefulā for getting sauces, as if she was doing us a favor. Mind you, this manager cared more about guarding ketchup packets than providing basic customer service.
Letās reiterate that: This manager was more invested in protecting ātheir saucesā than treating customers with respect.
And hereās the part that stung: the whole thing left us feeling discriminated against. As brown Filipinos, the way we were treated ā the suspicion, the attitude, the hostility ā felt too familiar. And after reading other reviews, we realized we werenāt alone. This branch seems to judge customers based on appearance, and if you donāt look a certain way, expect to be talked down to or assumed to be ātrying to get something.ā
If youāre Asian or Filipino? I honestly recommend avoiding this location. No one deserves to be mistreated over their skin toneā¦ or over a 25-cent ketchup packet.

Awful to say the least . Went in for burger and fries for my daughter and told 10 mins tell lunch . Than told it would be half an hour tell lunch . Lame to say the least . Poor management to blame it on the new employee teach youāre employees better

My McDonald's app was not working correctly for some reason and I insisted that it wasn't on my end and I was correct and therefore they could not apply any discounts to my order so instead of the person taking the order getting upset and mad and doing nothing about it he actually went and got a manager and the manager immediately gave me the correct discount as always thanks kid appreciate it keep up hard work like that and you'll manage that store someday.

Not a great location. Homeless and drug use in area. I will say the City is working on removing drug users. A year ago users would be standing at the front door of McDonalds. Now, they are not allowed on the property. But, you still need to be watchful.
