McMenamins Barley Mill Pub

Stopped in here Wednesday afternoon with my friends and I have to say this is one of the absolute coolest mcmenamins I’ve been too. The bar manager was our Bartender and she was so rad and kind. She makes a mean martini shot.

Great beer, friendly service, great vibe. Grateful Dead Infinity Playlist is a plus. The food is expensive and the pinball machines need service.

Walked into the dining area, no one said a word after 10 minutes took a booth, no acknowledgment what so ever sat the another 10 minutes until the waitress came up took our order and asked for pretzels and two rock-bottom coffees waited 15 minutes then got coffee spilled on the table by the server no offer to clean it up or replace the spilled drink and never got pretzels and noticed 3 tables had not been bussed in over 30 minutes that we were there this is a horrible place. To visit do not go!

Drove 4 hours to Portland to celebrate the Terminator 39th birthday, only to fi d out that the specials at all locations means all but this one, the employees said they never heard of the special guess they don't look in thier own windows at thier signage

The food in every McMenamins location is pretty consistently very good but not great. That being said, if you're in the mood for a burger, I have yet to find burgers in Portland that are significantly better than the these ones. Notably, at this particular location, every time I've been, the service has been excellent. The waiters who are cordial, kind and attentive without being too pushy about anything or to get you out the door. That in addition to that cozy atmosphere with good heating, music and decorations makes it a great place to chill if you need a bite to eat and an hour or two to relax without being bothered.

We normally play D&D at McMenamins chapel pub, but they closed early for some reason. Barley Mill let us reserve a room for our game on short notice and checked on us just the right amount for drinks and food. I got their happy hour Scooby Snacks which were piping hot. Only complaint is that it was a little stuffy inside.... But it was actually more comfortable than chapel in this regard.

Nick and Sam made this a very Memorable experience! These bartenders took the time to connect with us and help us to complete our Passport for Hawthorne Blvd. This pub is completely decked out in Grateful Dead Memorabilia and good vibes! There are a few pinball machines and a fabulous indoor/outdoor area! Come enjoy a brew or a bite of Pub food in this fun and well decorated area of Hawthorne with enough good energy to heal anything that Ails you! This is a must see location for anyone who is a Mcmenamins enthusiast!

Service was and always cheerful and great overall. Food was splendid. I love that it's in walking distance from Hinson Baptist Church.
Cloe and Justin were fantastically fun servers.

The server and manager on shift made fun of a person who came in to fill out an application. They were not attentive to patrons; just on their phones being the bar. Beautiful establishment, disappointing staff on the day I went. Sunday 7pm

Fry sauce was poppin’! Dead Heads will feel accepted. Just look around. Had the Communication Breakdown paired with 33rd State IPA. (Caught the nod to Led Zeppelin’s debut album. Nice touch!)

What a fun pub right on Hawthorne to enjoy a beer outdoors when it's a nice day! I love the grateful Dead memorabilia scattered throughout the bar. It's a real chill vibe and they always have the grateful Dead music on. In the background. There's plenty of indoor and outdoor seating options.

Such great Portland atmosphere. Grateful Dead music and amazing nostalgic photos and artwork. We love Terminator, Hammerhead and Scooby Snacks. Outside seating and a sweet happy hour menu. This was the first McMenamins venture. They now own the Baghdad Theater another mile up Hawthorne.
