It's like... if a cafeteria had live music. Zero service, if you have food, understand your table well be covered in dirty dishes for the next 2 hours. . Rather dull environment.

There was a party going on when our group came for dinner. The noise from the party the music and karaoke in the adjacent room was deafening and little kids playing in the dining area near our table at one point bounced their balloon right onto the dish of one of our party. Food was pretty mild, could have used more heat. Large portions. Service was ok, friendly staff. When looking on-line I hadn’t seen the option to reserve a table or I would have and perhaps would have been warned ahead about the festivities.
Vegetarian options: Ingredients are all clearly listed on each menu item
Parking: There is a large lot next to the restaurant and some parking spots directly in the front.
Kid-friendliness: There were kids running free all over the restaurant.

If you’re looking for an exceptional Cambodian dining experience in Portland, Mekong Bistro is a must-visit. This family-owned gem not only serves up delicious and authentic Cambodian cuisine but also offers a welcoming atmosphere that feels like a home away from home.
From the moment you step inside, you’re greeted by the friendly and attentive staff, who make you feel like part of the family. The restaurant itself is cozy and inviting, perfect for a casual meal or a special gathering. One of the highlights of Mekong Bistro is its versatility as an event venue. If you’re planning a party or special event, you can rent out the space by getting in touch with Saron, the owner. They’re open to hosting various events, making it a great option for celebrations of all kinds.
The menu features a wonderful array of Cambodian dishes, with options to satisfy a range of tastes. Whether you’re in the mood for flavorful drunken noodles or the aromatic Kao Pune, a traditional noodle soup, you won’t be disappointed. The food is consistently delicious, prepared with care, and rich in authentic flavors.
The bar adds another layer of enjoyment to the experience, allowing you to sip on a refreshing drink while you dine. Overall, Mekong Bistro stands out not just for its excellent food but for its warm, welcoming service and the sense of community it fosters. It’s a place where you can enjoy a great meal and feel right at home.

This is the place if you want to be a regular. The owners and many other staff feel like family. The food is so good, especially the Ah Mok and Cha Kreung. If you are looking for a deal, go for the happy hour margs and pad Thai/pad ke mao/fried rice. You can't get a better deal. But don't stop at happy hour, they have live music that is always fun to dance to, and fun and unique events (asian beer fest, SE asian craft fair, holiday parties etc). They often have a meal tree to "pay it forward" or give out extra food to community members in need. We are so lucky to have this place in our neighborhood!

I was the for a music event, and the stage area is great, but the front door was boarded from a break-in. The peanut sauce was watery, it was understaffed and they bussed the tables by putting the bus bin on the tables the guests were sitting at:*(
The ah-mok is amazing

Great customer service. The food was average but way over priced. I bought 4 skewers for $16. It was basically an appetizer. It should be priced no more then $8 for that dish.

I'd not been to Mekong Bistro since before the pandemic, but was a huge fan and regular patron previously. Mekong Bistro features live jazz performances, and is a very large space. This last time, the preparation of the food seemed to be quite a bit off, compared to what I'd previously experienced. The quail seemed not super crispy, and was tough. The calamari appeared to be undercooked, and was also tough. One of the most noteworthy items about Mekong Bistro in the past was the huge flavor profiles, and hefty spice level. Both of these were absent this time around.Service was not up to the standard it used to be, not as prompt, and not as friendly. I may give them another shot at some point, in hopes that this last visit was just an off day.
