The food was wonderful! I wanted to get most of the menu but restrained myself and was so happy with the fried oysters and the empanada sampler. I also got to try bites of several other dishes from everyone else's plates and was impressed across the board. Even more outstanding though was the service. Amber was fantastic with our group's many dietary needs, going so far as to make SURE that the gf beer in the fish taco batter was also wheat free. She was such a gem and made the great meal even better. The only thing I would change is that the space is a bit echo-y and could use some sound absorption barriers (but also our group was certainly not improving the acoustics with our chatter). I'll be back!Vegetarian options: Clearly labeled on the menu (except the yucca fries which ARE vegan but didn't get a label)Dietary restrictions: specialize in gf but they label vegetarian and vegan options and the staff was knowledgeable about ingredients and checked for any restrictions.

An incredible night at the exciting eatery. The food was incredible. We delighted on the likes of the fish tacos, yucca fries, empanadas, Elote and more. The service was incredible. They were patient with this giggling party of five.Dietary restrictions: They are 100% gluten free and many vegan and vegetarian options.Parking: The parking is all neighborhood street parking. Depending upon the time of day the more difficult it will be.

It's nice. They do not take online reservations during happy hour but weren't too busy when we arrived early for our reservations. It's a small place but cozy. The food is great. Everything we've tried during our few visits has been great. Shrimp was cooked perfectly. Service is good.

This restaurant had awesome food. We tried many of the tapas options. It was all amazing. The vegan pazole was especially yummy.

No one told us the reservation was for 1:30 hours. Maybe there was a note on the restaurant website but it was, it should be with big letters and bright colors! The waitress came and asked us to leave because it was already 1:30 minutes since the reservation time started. We were in the middle of our meal.I don't think I'll be back.

Wonderful choices well prepared. A delight! Oysters yummy. Asada tostado excellent Service very poor. Shabbily dressed servers, wanted to give us table near kitchen while tables at window empty, no smile, no thank you. Great food with indifferent service. The new normal in Portland?

We love Mestizo. The fact that the entire restaurant is gluten-free is a game-changer for us, allowing us to dine family-style and share a variety of dishes without worry. We’ve practically sampled the entire menu by now, and each visit introduces us to something delightful. My personal favorites include the refreshing shrimp ceviche, the flavorful elote, the hearty carne asada bowl, and the delicious flan. The quality of ingredients and the care put into each dish truly shine, making Mestizo a standout choice for anyone, whether gluten-free or not!Dietary restrictions: The entire restaurant is gluten free.

Meh, not as tasty as my favorite taco spot in Portland but way, way more expensiveDietary restrictions: They are completely gluten and soy free but I and others have been a little confused the first time about the labeling of vegan vs vegetarian options. There’s a key on the back of the menus that I would consult before making choices, especially if you have intolerances to dairy and/or eggs

I am so happy we found this place!! My husband and I went with another couple and we tried a LOT of things. Everything was really, really good! It was great not having to worry about the food having gluten and they were very accommodating about not making our food with dairy. The kicker was the flan. It as really delicious! I am so impressed!!Also, Junior, our server, was awesome! We will be back!!

The food isn't very consistent, unfortunately, but when it's good, it's really good. Very happy that it's 100% gluten-free.

The food was good, but not great. The servers were friendly but a little slow. Not their fault as it seems they were understaffed by one. Everything I tried had something about it that wasn’t quite right, as i find with most gluten free restaurants. I am gluten free and I find that GF restaurants are just not as good as many others. They don’t have to try as hard because we’re desperate!!! There were three pieces of small pieces chicken in the arroz con pollo soup, the taco tasted like it had ketchup in it and the empanadas had undercooked mushrooms. The coconut rice pudding had crunchy rice. The caocktails were very good and the bartender was knowledgeable and friendly. She did an amazing job. I will probably not return, but check out some of the other new Mexican spots in town.Vegetarian options: Some menu options are vegetarian (VG) and some are vegan (V) so make sure you are clear with the key before orderingDietary restrictions: Very friendly for dietary restrictions but as so-so as other diet restriction friendly restaurantsParking: Had to drive around a little for parking, as is usual on division st (it’s mostly neighborhood parking so please be respectful of folx who live there)
