Montavilla Brew Works has been a favorite of mine since even before they opened their doors. Over the years, they've consistently delivered outstanding beer, and their cask ales, German styles, and IPAs are especially top-notch. The quality and care they put into their brewing process truly shine through in every pint.
Beyond the beer, the ambiance at Montavilla Brew Works is always welcoming and cozy. Whether you're there to relax with friends or enjoy one of their excellent events, it's a place that feels like home for beer enthusiasts.
If you're looking for great beer in a great atmosphere, Montavilla Brew Works is a must-visit. Highly recommended!
The folks, beer, atmosphere, and community at MBW could not be better. Invite some friends, grab some delicious food from downtown Montavilla, and enjoy
Montavilla Brew Works is hands-down our favorite brewery in Portland! We travel all the way from Texas every year just to visit, and it’s always worth the trip. The beer is delicious with a fantastic variety that keeps us coming back, and the atmosphere is top-notch—laid-back, welcoming, and filled with great people. We make it a point to attend their anniversary event every year we can, and it’s always such a fun, memorable time. If you’re in Portland and love good beer, Montavilla Brew Works is a must-visit!
Awesome neighborhood brewhouse and taproom with stellar beers and cool staff.... and they're dog friendly.
I hosted a 15 person happy hour at Montavilla Brew Works. The service was excellent, and the beer selection was fantastic. Loved the indoor and outdoor seating options, and it was great that we could bring in our own pizza from across the street. The staff was super responsive and accommodating, making it an easy and enjoyable event. Highly recommend for any group gathering.
Bought an overpriced ipa that was advertised as a fresh hop, when it contained pellet hops. Bullshit advertising.
Edit response to owner: every other fresh hop ale has purely fresh hops added, and its cheaper to dry hop wirh pellets. You advertise the beer as fresh hop, and it is not. A fresh hop ale has 100% fresh hops. $17/ 4 pack is really overpriced, and doubley so due to the beer not being that much more expensive to produce, as you use mostly pellet hops to brew it. I paid $24 at a local shop, which would have been set by your company as well. Dishonest petty response bud.
Stopped in for a beer! First time here. Tasty beers and a great atmosphere!
Want a brewery that almost guaranteed a good outcome trying a new beer? Then hit up Montavilla Brew Works. I have yet to have a beer that left me disappointed. I also appreciate the variety of beers they'll brew as well. Morgan happened to be tending the taps the the latest day I came in and when asked what she preferred to drink she blended a mix of a couple different beers that was perfect for the hot weather. MBW is worth the stop in the neighborhood.
top shelf beers. drink them all. well ok just the ones you will like.

Montavilla Brew Works is one of the greatest breweries I have ever been too. I often jokingly refer to myself as a brew pub snob. I’ve zig-zagged the country trying to exclusively drink in local brew pubs or bars serving a local brew and I was privileged enough to tend bar at a subpar brewery, for four years, in the dry heat of the deep southwest. I’m not here to drag them though. I Am here to show Montavilla Brews Works an iota of the love they deserve! From the second I walked in, I felt at home. The owner’s (with the help of family and friends) completely remodeled a historic part of the Montavilla neighborhood. I think it was an old car garage. Giant stainless steel tanks are the first thing you see when you walk in, then some modest tables, and a beautiful rustic-sheik decor. When you get to the bar the thing looks like one solid piece of maple or redwood or something, you can already taste the expert artisanship that’s about to be in this beer. They serve almost strictly a full menu of their own brews, no spirits or wine, and only one out of a dozen or so house taps is from their friends at two towns cider. I was in portland for a week and made sure to stop in twice. I got a few flights and a few more pints than I’ll admit to, to me business partners or the Mrs. back home. Not a penny was wasted though! The Old Montavilla was my favorite, but too high in gravity to drink all night. Their Irish Red Ale was my go to, but there was not a single beer I didn’t enjoy. Scotland the Brave was a close third and the list goes on and on, but by the time you’ve read the entirety of this review, brewmaster and God on the drum kit, Michael, might already have a whole new tap list available!
A favorite neighborhood brewery, lots of great beer but not much in terms of food
Fast and friendly service. Flights available with 6 beers.
No idea why I didn't get here sooner. Excellent beer! Drank the fresh hop selections. Worth it. Got some pizza from Flying Pie across the street and had a wonderful time. There are no negatives here
