Wonderful food! And you can sit and play board games!

Went here for a friend's birthday and the staff were fantastic about our group's many allergies and dietary restrictions. We rented the rose room which was a beautiful and elegant place to celebrate. The only downside side was it was a bit warm and they didn't have control over the heating and cooling. The food was excellent as were the cocktails. Their game prices are competitive with online retailers and they have a huge selection. Plus there bathroom is all gender with full length stall doors! Every public bathroom should be like that!

Rad place to game, but noisy and difficult with groups larger than 5. For groups of 4 I think this place is nearly perfect. For more than 4 the acoustics are really bad we are finding and I have had alot of complaint about noise. For groups of 6 or larger they put you at a table in the center if available which is even louder and harder to hear. The alternative solution they offer is to rent a room which is far too expensive to do weekly. Currently exploring other options and venues for our weekly game.

I showed up today planning to have lunch with my family. I arrived 15 minutes earlier than everyone else because I had an appointment I needed to make and was in a time crunch.

There were two people in the restaurant total. That's it. I asked for a table for a party of 5 and the girl refused to seat me as half my party wasn't present. I could understand if the place was packed. There was nobody there.

Ultimately, my family showed up and I had to leave and wasn't able to get anything to eat or drink. Pretty disappointing.

Happened around 12:30 on 9/14.

I have never seen a store like this. A whole lot of D & D stuff. All kinds of trading trading card games. No sports cards and when I was there they had absolutely no Pokémon cards left.

Games, games and more games. Card games, board games, magic the gathering! You can play anywhere In the store and drink and eat anywhere in the store!

They have a large selection of games and you can eat or play. I go to mox weekly to play warhammer and have met a lot of great people in the community.

I also buy a lot of paints and kits and they have a good stock for AOS and 40k. Fun to grab a beer or snacks while you play as well they bring it right to your table.

So glad this place is open in portland and want to patronize it and keep it happy!

Mox Boarding House is an excellent place to hang out, and I love how it acts a community space for visitors to play board games in a public setting, allowing for people to connect with others in a unique way. At the same time it's a restaurant that serves delicious (though expensive) food and drinks to enjoy while playing said games. I would highly recommend their chicken strips, or their macaroni and cheese. They also have good beverages. You could honestly come just for the menu without playing games, though I believe you'd be missing part of the experience.

The employees provide great customer service, and they do their best to create a plesant atmosphere. It seems like many of the workers are versed in popular games, including Magic: The Gathering, and can answer any questions if needed while learning something new. Connected to the restaurant is a game store, which has a lot to check out, sometimes free giveaways.

My one problem is that it gets a bit annoying when the place gets overly loud on evenings, and I tend to get overstimulated. Other people with sensitivity to sound may face the same problem here. Also, I personally am bothered when people who don't seem to hold any interest in games hang out because they're in the area, be it for a soccer game or in general.

This is probably the coolest place I know around Portland!! My wife and I asked the person behind the counter (I feel terrible I forget her name) for a recommendation for a strategy game and she gave us like 5 different options. Then we went into the restaurant and the food and drinks were amazing. Make this your new date night spot!!

Great restaurant with amazing gluten free food options. As someone who is celiac, I’m very grateful to have some delicious chicken fingers and fries. I also want to mention their wonderful manager, Santino, and give a big thank you for his customer service and kindness.

The most amazing spot to play games!

They have an extensive board game store in the front complete with board games, card games, paints, any mtg + accessories.

They have tables for minis, private rooms (DND was going on in some when I was there), and a huge area with tables and booths where you can play.

There isn't a charge to borrow games to play -- in fact, they encourage play before trying. If you want to buy a new copy of a game you played, tell your server to get a 15% off coupon to use on a sealed copy.

On top of all of that , the food and drinks are nop notch. Easily could stand on its own as a cocktail bar or restaurant.

Other useful stuff:
There is a parking garage next door and you can get the first 1.5hrs (I think) validated.

Because the space is massive, we had no problem getting a booth during peak time even though there were 3 separate events (DND, Warhammer, and mtg commander). Definitely plenty of room.

This is my favorite place to go in the evenings when in Portland.
