Nothing bad on the menu! I constantly cycle between the trinity, the staple and the shrimp and grits. The best thing on the menu though is the Weekend Crab Boil! So much food, so much delicious. And you can’t go wrong with either the sweet potato pie OR the banana pudding for dessert; both have an appropriate amount of whipped cream!

The food was amazing! My mom and I loved the gumbo and we both agreed that we would eat there several times a week. Ive never had anything like it before and the large bowl was enough to feed two or three people although once you try it, you arent going to want to share, The owner was super nice and it was a pleasure to support this local business. We will be voting for Mumbo Gumbo for Best of Portland.

Vegetarian options: After trying the gumbo, I would try anything on the menu.

Shrimp and grits was delicious.

Dined outside. It’s either too loud with the music or the highway noise. Maybe I’m just old.

I'm a big fan of mumbo gumbo and I enjoy coming here and also their grits n gravy location. The portion sizes are great and the good is spot on(though I wish it were a bit spicier). The people who work here are awesome. The seating area available is nice, all around a great food cart pod too.

Authentic Creole gumbo, so hot, and fresh shrimp! Hard to find in PDX. Accommodating service for special touches. Fast service, huge portion. 10 min walk to moda center. Food cart in pod with 6 other carts outside a taproom!

The Gumbo was great and very reasonably priced! I would suggest getting double protein, though, as the shrimp gumbo only came with a few jumbo shrimp. But for the $12 or so that it costed, I was very happy with it!

The area they were set up in had very loud music and one of the groups of patrons was very rude and unruly to several of the vendors. Not at all their fault, and the guys working there handled it very respectfully and maturely. But we did opt to take our food to go after that scene broke out. I felt really sorry for the people working there. They didn't deserve that kind of hostility.

Vegetarian options: A lot of the dishes including the gumbo can be made vegetarian.

Dietary restrictions: They mark their gluten-free and vegetarian options clearly which is great!

Said they were open on Google, but showed up to them being closed. Even drove to their other location showing on Google Maps and it was nonexistent

This food cart really surprised me. As a southerner born and raised, I am skeptical of the southern/Cajun food I find elsewhere and am mostly disappointed with what I find. Not here! They have very authentic offerings. I could tell by the smell when walking up that they had the spices right. My daughters shrimp sandwich (Nipsy hussle) was super good. The Gumbo, however, was absolutely awesome! Thick, savory, spiced well, authentic, and delicious. Put this cart on your itinerary when visiting Moda center. You won't be disappointed. ???Oooooeeee!
