At the end of an alley, up a flight of stairs you shall find your ultimate destination! Amazing vibe with a stunning rooftop garden! Must see!
Charming, cozy, enlightening. I stopped in on a road trip through late one evening and met some beautiful souls and engaged in some wonderful discussions. Gabe was an excellent host and served some healing herbs and was a delight to hang with :)
STELLAR. 😍
I’d been introduced to the kava experience on Oahu years ago – soft lighting, maybe some candles, a Hawaiian band playing Marvin Gaye tunes on acoustic instruments – and this is the *only* place in Portland that nails the proper kava vibe.
It’s also *even better* in some ways – starting with an absolutely magical rooftop patio and greenhouse. The indoor space is cozy and gorgeous as well – strewn with beautiful books, oracle decks, and more plants. I loved seeing a few solo visitors just reading in comfy nooks for hours.
If you’re not into kava (though I highly recommend trying one of the shareable presentations), there are some luscious-sounding drinking chocolates and teas on offer as well. My companion said the kava immediately eased some heartburn that’s been chronic recently – and of course we very much enjoyed our conversation and insights and good mood with its aid! This is our kind of drinking. 😂
I was beyond charmed when they made sure we got to take home our undrunk portion of kava – and in a glass jar!! No plastic. This business is truly in devotion to the values of a better world.
I had known about Nalu for years but somehow just hadn’t made it in till last night. We couldn’t be more excited to have discovered it now and will be avid repeat visitors (along with everyone else we send in, I’m sure 😂).
Excellent chai, lovely atmosphere and welcoming service.
Cool little lounge with a very laid back vibe. Small and full of lovely plants seems like a hidden gem. Unfortunately they overcharged my card, but only by $8, and that seemed a do-able tip. I upped my review by 1 star because the owner used sarcasm and shade in response to my first one, and I want to raise their vibration.
The kava was nice, but the fire shot was even better.
They also have a great little patio out back.
A space with very calm and warming vibrations. I came in for a kava, and tried a fire shot. Definitely a great space to drink it in
This is a beautiful and sacred place. You feel the positive vibes as soon as you come through the door and up the stairs. Holland and the rest of the staff are very friendly. The kava, teas and cacao are amazingly delicious.
This is my favorite place in Portland. The staff is so sweet and authentic. I really appreciate the curated environment; low lighting, beautiful local artwork on the walls, thriving plants, relaxing music, delicious drinks. A wonderful spot to relax or catch up with a friend. I'm really grateful for a non-alcoholic spot in Portland!
I would give the atmosphere even more stars if I could. This is one of my favorite places in town. The hours are perfect for going out to at night too.

This place is tricky to find unless you're really looking but it is such a lovely little haven. You can sit on the roof, in a cozy lounge, or even a greenhouse! There's a great variety of tea, just know that the druggy one tastes like mud (I still enjoyed it).

Nalu is one of my two favorite establishments in Portland!
Owned, and tended, by really wonderful humans. They make space for beautiful community gatherings and events, and I appreciate so much how deeply they respect and give back to Indigenous communities.
Because of this, it’s also the only kava place in Portland that I feel 100% good about going to.
If you haven’t gone yet, I highly whole heartedly recommend you go and find yourself a cozy nook and definitely check out the events when they happen! ♥️
