Don’t sleep on this bar. This whole block is known for its cocktails and the staff here raise the bar through and through. Chris is the mind behind the unique drinks and his wizard of a bartender, Amy, slings them with perfection every time. Five stars is too few to give this place.

Maybe better for dining in, but we ordered 2 dishes for pickup and they looked so unappetizing, I was embarrassed to bring them home. I hoped that the taste would make up for the presentation, but it didn't. The salmon was SO thin and dry, veggies had no taste, enchiladas were just drowned in mole.I called them to ask if that's how they treat their to-go customers. They apologized and promised a refund...but it never came through. Disappointed

Not a good experience. The drinks were good but the food menu was very small and they were out of multiple things. I left feeling hungry because there weren't enough food options and only two entrees listed. So my entree choices were carne asada or a dish with octopus and neither was something I wanted and I had to wait to have dinner til I got home. We had snacks and appetizers that were good but not filling unfortunately. The desserts we had were not good at all but they did refund us. The server was nice to us. I would return for drinks but not dinner unless there were more options.

I was in Portland for four days for a friend's birthday and got lots of bar recommendations, but nobody recommended Nightingale. I got lots of recommendations from cocktail enthusiasts back home and local bartenders, but not for here. Maybe it's because they opened last January during the pandemic. I however definitely recommend Nightingale.

I was extremely underwhelmed by this place. For a restaurant bar with almost a 5 star review it surely does not make the cut for me. My partner and I chose this place because of the beautiful reviews and menu selection, but upon arrival the menu was cut short (understandably. There were still some very lovely choices). We ordered their papas frites, octopus tacos, birria, and arroz con leche.I am sorry to say the only thing that was truly a fam favorite was the frites. Their tacos were small in respect to price. The octopus was bland. I asked for hot sauce and our waiter said they did not have any to give. It wasn’t until after our meal was completed did the bartender bring us hot sauce after he overheard the waiter tell us no. The birria tacos tasted like grocery store shredded cheese with barely any meat on them. I was highly disappointed that these were even considered tacos. I thought the arroz con leche was going to save this place and I left so upset. I was disappointed and bothered that the arroz con leche was hard. Like HARD. I’ve never had arroz con leche that wasn’t smooth w/ soft rice. Also they didn’t mention in the description that it was chocolate. They had the audacity to serve us stuff undercooked chocolate rice. I took one bite and had it sent back. The check was asked for immediately.I gave this place 2 stars solely for their drink selection. The food needs a revamp immediately. I’m sorry for anyone who decides to eat here in the future.

I had a super lovely dining experience at Nightingale. The bartender taking care of me was extremely personable and nice to chat with. I enjoyed a couple of unique and tastebud tingling cocktails. The grilled squash tostadas and avocado fritters were well seasoned, complex, bright and earthy. Dimmed, inviting light indoors and awesome music. 10/10 experience for me.

Creative food (putting a new spin on upscale Mexican classics), fun cocktails, and the best part for me? Every item on the menu (except one dessert) is gluten-free!! This is not written down anywhere, so still confirm with your server, but I didn’t have any issues. Most menu items can be made dairy-free on request too.
