Our third visit in 4 years, every bit as outstanding as our previous visits. The octopus was melt-in-your-mouth delicious, the Normandie board is always a stunner. Everything else was incredibly good. Creative without being fussy. Fantastic service as usual. Every time we get back to PDX, Normandie is a must.

Great atmosphere, great music, great service, great food! It was an overal great and surprisingly fun experience for our family of three.

Honestly, we were underwhelmed overall. Although the service was timely, it was a little "casual" for our taste. More professionalism please. The food was nicely presented and the ingredients were quality, but mediocre in taste and execution and over priced for the portion sizes and quality. For example, why service a chips with onion dip where each chip was super thin and the size of a quarter (obviously made from fingerlings). This made the experience messy. The fingerling potato were over dry, cooked and lacked flavor. Just a couple of critiques.

I food was wonderful and every thing was very very good. However, the service and the staff were very very ....let's say TOO casual. They were borderline rude and too bothered to be there and taking orders/brining us food. I saw one staff member take a spoon full of food from someone's plate that was to go out and put it in his mouth!!! The entire staff had this attitude...like they are too good to be there.

Our server couldn't be more accommodating, explaining every item of interest. My fresh shell fish was very good, soft accompanied by salted iced horse radish. Dinner companion opted for the salmon, also very good. For me the octopus w/green Chile peppers I prematurely was concerned with, but no problemo w/the addition of the surprise fruit dates balancing the dish. Lest I forget the crabmeat crouquets deserving of applause. We were visitors to Portland, and our concierge recommended, glad he did! Allan H

My mother and I landed here after an 8 hour drive across the state. We were rumpled, tired and hungry and didn't have reservations. But Normandie restored us. They seated us at a high top near the bar, served excellent cocktails and had beautiful plates of well-considered fresh food in front of us in no time. We appreciated the emphasis on seafood and vegetables and the lively French technique. A lovely start to a long PDX & PNW exploration and only a couple minute from the front door of our hotel.

The dishes were well plated and prepared, flavors were imaginative and we loved most everything we had. Main caution - portions are strangely constricted, even in the age of inflation and expecting to pay $100 for 2 persons. A $24 short rib dish was literally 2 ribs and some wonderful thick grilled onion. I cannot imagine that many diners who spend that and aren't already somewhat sated by other apps would not feel insulted that a main dish is literally about 6 bites of meat. I'd rather pay more knowing I won't leave hungry even after already sharing 3 small plates.

We had been to Normandie in the past and enjoyed the food very much. This time, we were unimpressed. The prices were very high for the quality and quantity of food served. I had a small piece of salmon on a melon-cucumber salad for $38. I was hungry when we left. The music was loud, with a heavy beat, and with speakers on all four corners of the room, it was hard to escape it. The only thing we liked was the delicious cocktails.

We enjoyed the service at Normandie. The bar and our table side service were both on point. The food ambiance was bistro modern, but spacious and fun. The food was delicious, but the small plates were very small for the price, sometimes a couple of bites. For a large plate we had the spare ribs and added one to make it for of a large plate. I would recommend the food, but just be aware of the value for the pricing.

The staff were really friendly and nice. We had a great high top with a view of the street action. The food was very good. The shrimp crab toast seemed very salty but that could just be me. We stuck with small plates and had more than enough food. I like the feel of this place. And the cosmopolitan was top notch.
