Nova Coffee in Portland is a true gem!
The space is bright, modern, and inviting-perfect for relaxing or getting work done. Their coffee is consistently excellent, with each drink crafted to perfection, from rich lattes to balanced pour-overs. Seasonal offerings add a fun and creative twist to the menu, and the locally sourced pastries are a perfect pairing. The friendly, knowledgeable baristas and the welcoming atmosphere make every visit a treat.

Nice place, but the barista made sure to let us know how little he wanted to help us.

The matcha latte was so weak, it tasted like just hot milk and water. The coffee tasted sour and bitter

Ordered two vanilla lattes, they tasted somehow identical or worse than McDonald’s coffee. Such a burnt strong bad taste- the barista was very rude and when I said “have a good day” they said “okay bye”
Which is just insanely rude. You can’t serve bad coffee and be rude.
Got there at around 2pm but person working was clearly trying to close up shop, even though the sign said they close at 5.
Honestly I go to so many coffee shops and I’m so confused as to why my coffee tastes so bad !

Can't say enough good things about this place. Server actually cared about every person who came in the door. Great pastries and coffee.

Nice, friendly place
Fantastic, friendly service!!More/better pastries (from a different supplier?) to pick from. Every time I go in the case is either empty or only has non-appealing looking bagels. Otherwise, love this place!

I guess I've become a regular here because they know me by name and will start making my usual order unless I tell them to change it up. I usually come here with my friend, who is an even more regular regular and if I come in without him I get asked if they should start making his regular order, too. The baristas are friendly and nice and make a great matcha latte. A lot of the customers are people who live in the two apartments there, or work across the street, so you see a lot of the same people (and dogs!) and it just feels very communal and a good atmosphere to hang out in and chat or get work done (including crafts, like knitting). Even if their drinks were meh I'd still come for the community and atmosphere, luckily their coffee and tea are great so it's positives all around!
Vegetarian options: Selection of pastries/muffins/bagels, though they sell out fairly early. There are also light breakfasty options like avocado toast, and instant oatmeal cups. Also, coffee!
Parking: Parking is mostly street parking, there is a garage for tenants of the building - but you probably aren't driving to the coffeeshop in the building you live in

A sweet little shop with very kind staff. Marley remembers my name, greets me with the biggest smile and is always hustling to get drinks out quickly.
In a city teeming with great coffee shops, this one wasn't my favorite. The benches are too high for the tables so it's incredibly uncomfortable to work at. The coffee was a little burned and over roasted. And many, many flies buzzed toward the ceiling. Probably won't be back.

After drinking a coffee and working on my laptop for a bit, I wanted to buy a muffin, so I asked the barista if the one I wanted had any nuts because I have an allergy. She didn't know off the top of her head, so she looked at the label and said "look, it says it's vegan" to which I replied, "oh but I asked if it had nuts, do you have the ingredients?". She glared at me and very exasperatedly said (almost shouted) "I don't know, we don't make them here dude", waving her arms around like she was angry with me. I felt incredibly uncomfortable and immediately left. I've never experienced someone so frustrated over a simple question, especially related to a safety concern. I've also never experienced a restaurant that doesn't know if a major allergen is in the food that they serve. The music was also incredibly loud for a cafe, although that was not my first concern after the way I was treated.I went on Tuesday, March 5, 2024 from about 12:30 PM to 3:00 PM.
Dietary restrictions: They have gluten free and vegan options but were incredibly unhelpful when it came to asking about other major allergens.

They will not be getting my business anymore. I used to enjoy coming early to my daughter’s acting class across the street at The Oregon Children’s Theater they advertise they close at 3pm on Saturdays. I came in about 2:35/40 and they already had a closed sign and the person working there (Sat 3/2/24) was rushing to close up and was rude as I am sure she wanted to get out of there at 3 as that’s what she told other customers who were coming in after me. They shouldn’t advertise they close at 3 if they are shutting things down at 2:30. I wouldn’t have even bothered spending my money there and just proceed to the other coffee shops around this area. RUDE, RUDE, RUDE . Didn’t even care to say thank you, etc. Some people who work in customer service, should consider a different career that doesn’t interact with the public. Not a good look for your business. It’s not a customer’s fault that you want to leave right at your closing hour ?
